A system and method for classifying a mode of operation of a mobile communication device within a defined volume, based on multiple sensors are provided herein. The method may include the following steps: determining a position of the mobile communication device relative to a frame of reference of the defined volume, based on any of: angle of arrival, time of flight, or received intensity of radio frequency (RF) signals transmitted by the mobile communication device and received by a phone location unit located within the defined volume configured to wirelessly communicate with the at least one mobile communication device; obtaining at least one sensor measurement related to the mobile communication device from various non-RF sensors; and using a computer processor to classify the mobile communication device into one of many predefined modes of operation of the mobile communication device, based on the position and the sensor readings.

System and method for classifying a mode of operation of a mobile communication device in a volume based on sensor fusion

A system and method for classifying a type of interaction between a human user and a mobile communication device within a defined volume, based on multiple sensors. The method may include: determining a position of the mobile communication device relative to a frame of reference of the defined volume, based on: angle of arrival, time of flight, or received intensity of radio frequency (RF) signals transmitted by the mobile communication device and received by a phone location unit located within the defined volume configured to wirelessly communicate with the mobile communication device; obtaining at least one sensor measurement related to the mobile communication device from various non-RF sensors; repeating the obtaining, to yield a time series of sensor readings; and using a computer processor to classify the type of interaction into one of many predefined types of interactions, based on the position and the time series of sensor readings.

System and method for classifying a type of interaction between a human user and a mobile communication device in a volume based on sensor fusion

A current transformer (CT) for the purpose of, for example, current measurement, that uses a power line as a first coil and a second coil for measurement purposes, is further equipped with a third coil. Circuitry connected to the third coil is adapted to measure a signal therefrom. The measured signal from the third coil is compared to a signal measured from the second coil and based on the results, internal CT parameters are determined allowing calibration of actual results to expected results thereby providing an improved accuracy. This is especially desirable when using the CT for measurement of the like of current or phase of the primary coil when measurements are adjusted using the newly determined calibration parameters.

Self calibration by double signal sampling

A current transformer (CT) for the purpose of, for example, current measurement, that uses a power line as a first coil and a second coil for measurement purposes, is further equipped with a third coil. Circuitry connected to the third coil is adapted to inject a known reference signal to the third coil of the CT. The injected reference signal, i.e., current, generates signals in the first and second coils of the CT. The signal generated in the second coil is compared using circuitry attached thereto to the reference signal. Based on the results, and the difference between the expected results and the actual results, updated calibration parameters are determined. These provide improved accuracy when using the CT, for example for measurement of the like of current or phase of the primary coil when measurements are adjusted using the newly determined calibration parameters.

Self calibration by signal injection

A system and method for the wireless synchronization of a self-powered power sensor (SPPS) to a central controller for calculating a value of an electrical parameter. The method includes receiving from a central controller a message that includes timing information of the central controller time base; sampling at least an electrical signal respective of a powerline connected to an SPPS; estimating from the samples of the at least an electrical signal at least a first electrical parameter, where the at least a first electrical parameter is adjusted using the timing information; generating a packet; appending to the packet the estimated at least a first electrical parameter; and transmitting the packet to the central controller.

System and method for timing synchronization of a self-powered power sensor

A system and method for the synchronization of a central controller wirelessly for determining values of electrical parameters. The method includes sampling an electrical signal via at least one self-powered power sensor (SPPS); estimating, via the at least one SPPS, a time-stamp based on the sampled electrical signal; estimating, via the at least one SPPS, at least a first electrical parameter; generating a preamble of a packet; generating a synchronization information for a synchronization field of the packet; transmitting the packet components wirelessly; determining a time offset value for the packet based on the time-stamp and the transmission time-stamp of the synchronization information; and transmitting the time offset value by appending the time offset value to the packet, wherein the time offset value is used for determining at least a second electrical parameter.

Timing synchronization of self-powered power sensors and a central controller collecting samples therefrom

This disclosure provides methods and systems for locating wireless mobile devices in an area, for example, using an unmanned aerial vehicle. An unmanned aerial vehicle may receive a wireless signal with identification information from a mobile device. The unmanned aerial vehicle may fly in wireless communication range with the mobile device; measuring, representative parameters related to the received wireless signal and associating the value of measured representative parameters with the mobile device identification and with the location of the unmanned aerial vehicle at the time the wireless signal was received and estimating, the location of the mobile device in the area based on the value of measured representative parameters and the location of the unmanned aerial vehicle at the time it received the wireless signal. The measurement of the representative parameters may be time-stamped and the location of the unmanned aerial vehicle at the time the wireless signal was received may be calculated based on the time stamp and flight information of the unmanned aerial vehicle.

Methods and systems for the location and monitoring of mobile units

A system and method for the synchronization of a central controller wirelessly connected to at least one self-powered power sensor (SPPS). The method includes: sampling an electrical signal by at least one SPPS; estimating by the at least one SPPS a time of a sample of the electrical signal; generating a packet comprising packet components including a preamble, a synchronization field, and message data; generating synchronization information for the synchronization field of the packet; transmitting wirelessly the packet components; determining a time offset value for the packet, the time offset calculated from the time of the sample of the electrical signal and a transmission time-stamp of the synchronization information; and transmitting the time offset value by appending it to the packet, wherein the time offset value is used for the purpose of calculating at least an electrical parameter.

System and method for mobile monitoring of non-associated tags

An identification tag has at least a controller, a receiver for receiving wireless signals from an exciter, and a transmitter for transmitting wireless signals to at least one location receiver (which may be a WLAN access point). The tag's controller can determine the presence of interference from sources unrelated to the location system, such as smartphones, tablets, computer monitors etc., and signal an alert accordingly.

Enhanced wireless location system and method

Disclosed embodiments provide methods and systems for calculating and presenting a positioning performance of a location system. In one aspect, a server may receive a signal including information indicative of a determined location of an asset. Based on the received signal, the server may determine a positioning error value indicating an error in the determined location of the asset. The server may then calculate a metric as a function of the positioning error value, and provide positioning performance information for display based on the calculated metric.

In one aspect, the device, method, and computer-readable medium perform processes that may include receiving in at least one processor first information associated with at least one wireless device at a first location in the area. The processes may include receiving in the at least one processor second information associated with at least one wireless device at a second location in the area and different from the first location. The first location within said area and the second location within the area are unknown to the at least one processor. Devices, methods, and systems for radio map generation

A wireless network has at least one wireless unit which transmits messages in multiple channels. The messages are synchronously transmitted using a transmit clock signal. The at least one wireless unit starting transmission of the messages at intervals consisting of at least one of one or multiple periods of the transmit clock signal. A plurality of location receivers are used for receiving the messages at different channels transmitted by the wireless units within the wireless network and determining a time of arrival for the received messages. At least one master unit is used for receiving the time of arrival from each of the location units. The location of the wireless unit is to be determined on the Time Difference Of Arrival (TDOA) of the transmitted messages at the location units.

Multi-channel TDOA system

A wireless location system has at least one wireless tag to be located by the wireless location system, wherein the at least one wireless tag transmits two wireless signals having a known time relationship and having different bandwidths. A plurality of receivers is provided wherein a first receiver receives and processes a first of the two wireless signals and estimates a time to arrive (TOA) of the first wireless signal, and a second receiver receives and processes a second of the two wireless signals and estimates a TOA of the second wireless signal at the second transceiver. The plurality of receivers is time synchronized based on a common timing signal. A location server is coupled to each of the plurality of receivers. The location server receives the TOA of the first wireless signal from the first receiver and the TOA of the second wireless signal from the second receiver. The location server calculating a TDOA of the two wireless signals and estimates a position of the at least one wireless tag based on the TDOA.
