An apparatus, and an associated method, estimates a time zone at which an electronic device, such as a wireless device, is positioned. Parameters, such as a mobile country code, a GMT offset, a daylight savings time parameter, and geo location parameters are all candidate parameters from which to make an estimate. Received parameters are identified, and selectably used to obtain an estimate that is matched or verified to ensure likely accuracy.

Apparatus, and associated method, for estimating a time zone at which a device is positioned

A method () for providing an audio message (). The method can include detecting at least one external parameter (). Detecting the external parameter can include detecting a time, a location or a station identifier. Detecting the location can include receiving a signal from a network node () or a beacon (), or receiving location information from a positioning system (). In one arrangement, detecting the external parameter can include detecting a plurality of identifiers, such as a time, a location and/or a station identifier. The external parameter can be processed to identify at least one audio attribute () associated with a voice persona. An audio message then can be generated based, at least in part, on the audio attribute. Identifying the audio attribute can include identifying at least a second audio attribute associated with a background sound.

User interface that reflects social attributes in user notifications

A server includes a communications adapter; a controller and a datastore. The controller receives a first user input via a user interface to associate at least one image attribute with a contact. Thereby, responsive to receiving an image from an electronic apparatus, the controller automatically processes the image to identify at least one feature of the image that corresponds to the image attribute, and associates the image with the contact based on the image attribute; and communicates the image to the contact via the communications adapter. The datastore is suitable for storing digital information, and is communicatively coupled to the controller.

A method () and system () for multiparty communication using at least one dual mode communication device includes a dual mode radio () having at least a first modem () for operation on a first network and a second modem () for operation on a second network and a processor () coupled to the radio. The dual mode radio can be programmed to establish () an interconnect call on a first network between the dual mode radio and a second communication device, receive () a request for a private call on a second network from a third communication device, and mix and route () audio from the private call and the interconnect call at the dual mode radio when a multiparty call mode is selectively chosen. The dual mode radio can be a first modem operating on a CDMA network and a second modem operating on an iDEN network.
