An internal mix air atomizing spray nozzle assembly having a nozzle body that defines a central liquid flow passage, an air guide for directing pressurized air within the nozzle, and a downstream air cap having an upstanding impingement post and a plurality of discharge orifice defining passages about the impingement post. The air cap passages each are oriented at compound angle with respect to a central axis for discharging atomized liquid flow streams in a conical spray pattern swirling in a predetermined rotative direction about the central axis, and the impingement post has a diffuser cap that defines a flat central liquid impingement surface and an outer annular array of non radial diffuser veins for directing the atomized liquid and pressurized air in a swirling fashion about the impingement post in the same relative direction as the swirling spray pattern from the air cap passages.

A pressurized air-assisted liquid spray nozzle assembly having an air direction member that defines a central longitudinal airflow passage having an upstream end for coupling to a pressurized air supply and a plurality of cross-passages for directing a plurality of pressurized air streams radially outwardly, a liquid direction guide disposed in surrounding relation to the air direction member having a plurality of circumferentially spaced liquid passages extending transversely across the cross-passages for intersecting pressurized liquid and air streams and pre-atomizing the liquid, a downstream expansion chamber for receiving pre-atomized liquid, and discharge orifice communicating centrally with the expansion chamber for emitting a predetermined atomized liquid spray pattern.

Pressurized air assisted spray nozzle assembly

A spray nozzle assembly particularly adapted for directing a finely atomized slurry of hydrated lime for removing sulfur dioxide from flue gases. The nozzle assembly includes a nozzle body having a first pre-atomizing and mixing chamber into which pressurized liquid and air flow streams are directed for breaking down and pre-atomizing the liquid, an orifice plate at the downstream end of the first pre-atomization and mixing chamber for restricting the fluid flow into a second chamber defined by the orifice plate and spray tip, and a spray tip having a plurality of circumferentially spaced discharge orifices through which atomized liquid particles in the second chamber discharge. Each discharge orifice is inclined at a compound angle in order to cause the spray to discharge from the tip as a swirling annular curtain and thereby retard the build up of lime and fly ash on the tip.

Air atomizing spray nozzle assembly

A full cone spray nozzle assembly having a body with a centrally disposed, axially extending chamber through which a liquid to be discharged will flow, and a frusto-conically formed end cap having a circular, centrally located discharge opening. The end cap covers the body at the discharge end thereof, and the body has passages to direct pressurized air into a cavity formed between the discharge end of the body and the adjacent interior surface of the conical cap, thus forming an air outlet in the shape of an annular slot. The slot is arranged to direct the pressurized air inwardly towards the center of the opening in the conical cap so that the pressurized air surrounds and impinges the liquid flowing from the orifice and atomizes the liquid discharge.

An improved spray nozzle assembly particularly adapted for use in dispersing cooling fluids onto the opposed relatively narrow sides of a pair of slabs in a split or twin cast continuous steel casting system. The discharging spray nozzle assembly is fashioned with a nozzle body having a manifold which is common to a plurality of transversely mounted spray nozzle heads. Each spray nozzle head has a plurality of closely spaced, slit-like discharge openings that communicate with the manifold via a barrel-like mixing chamber and internal flow passages, Each of the discharge openings on each of said spray nozzle heads has a specifically configured shape to facilitate an even distribution of coolant throughout a substantially rectangular spray pattern.
