A power transmission belt. The power transmission belt includes the following: a backing layer; a body having a top surface and a bottom surface, the bottom surface joined with the backing layer, the top surface including a plurality of teeth, and the body including a plurality of reinforcing cords positioned between the top and bottom surfaces; and a fabric material having a top surface and a bottom surface, the bottom surface at least partially embedded in the top surface of the body, the fabric material being a weft knitted structure having N&#xd7;N ribs, wherein N is at least 2, and the top surface of the fabric material being at least partially exposed at surfaces of the plurality of teeth.

A method for maintaining constant position of a bearing outer race relative to an axial bore of a pulley comprising providing a pulley having a central axial hub exhibiting a concentric axial bore therethrough, the concentric axial bore having an axial bore surface; providing a bearing having an outer axial race, an inner axial race, and a plurality of bearing elements rotatably positioned between the outer axial race and the inner axial race; applying at least one drop or bead of a fastening element onto an outer surface of the outer race, wherein the fastening element acts to maintain constant position of the bearing relative to the pulley; and coupling the bearing to the pulley, and a pulley having a bearing integral therewith which exhibit the characteristic of maintaining constant position of the bearing relative to the pulley are disclosed.

An improved adhesive composition and method for adhering textile reinforcing elements to rubber, particularly ethylene-propylene-diene rubber in the manufacture of rubber articles such as power transmission belts, wherein the adhesive composition comprises a latex of a hydrogenated styrene-butadiene rubber, a carboxylated hydrogenated styrene-butadiene rubber, a hydrogenated nitrile-butadiene rubber, a carboxylated hydrogenated nitrile-butadiene rubber, a chlorosulfonated polyethylene or blends thereof; an aqueous solution of a half-ester of maleinized liquid poly butadiene; and, optionally, up to about 15% by weight carbon black in an aqueous solution.

Adhesive composition for adhering textiles to EPDM rubber

An improved adhesive composition and method for adhering textile reinforcing elements to rubber, particularly ethylene-propylene-diene rubber in the manufacture of rubber articles such as power transmission belts, wherein the adhesive composition comprises a latex of a hydrogenated styrene-butadiene rubber, a carboxylated hydrogenated styrene-butadiene rubber, a hyddogenated nitrile-butadiene rubber, a carboxylated hydrogenated nitrile-butadiene rubber, a chlorosulfonated polyethylene or blends thereof; an aqueous solution of a half-ester of maleinized liquid poybutadiene; and, optionally, up to about 15% by weight carbon black in an aqueous solution.

Adhesive composition and method for adhering textiles to EPDM rubber

A method for improving the adhesion of alkylated chlorosulfonated polyethylene (ACSM) and chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM) rubber compounds to a resorcinol-formaldehyde latex (RFL) treated polyester reinforcing element using lower than conventional heat set temperatures comprising dipping the element into a RFL dip comprising chlorosulfonated polyethylene; drying the element; heat setting the element at a temperature in the range from about 300.degree. F. to about 425.degree. F. under tension; incorporating the element into the rubber compounds; and curing the element and the rubber compounds. Further, adding an amine functional polyacrylate to the RFL dip prevents failure of the adhesion of the cord at start up temperatures of about -40.degree. F.
