A rescue breathing apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus is an automatic rescue breathing unit (ARBU) device that includes two sub-systems—an airway device keying mechanism and a ventilation unit. The keying mechanism may trigger and determine breath profile and parameters delivered by the ventilation unit. The ARBU device may connect to an air/oxygen source via a pressure regulator. The ARBU device may include a manifold, a keying chamber, an adult channel for providing breath to adult patients, a child channel for providing breath to child patients, and an infant channel for providing breath to infant patients. The ARBU device may also include a constant flow channel.

Control handles for medical devices

A probe for ablating tissue of a body cavity includes a shaft, an inflatable balloon connected to the shaft, and an electrode structure on or surrounding the balloon. The balloon expands within the body cavity to place the electrode structure in contact with the tissues in the body cavity. Additional electrodes, which are housed within the balloon during insertion into the cavity, can be extended outwardly from the balloon to penetrate the tissues in the body cavity. The electrode structure and the additional electrodes are adapted to transmit electrical energy to tissue of the body cavity in order to ablate the tissues up to a predetermined depth.

A ventilator system and method can deliver artificial respirations to a person receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The system and method may provide intermittent breath delivery (e.g., with interruptions), so that activation of the device gives a specific predetermined number of breaths, interspersed with a set time period of no breath. This pattern may be by default, manually triggered where one activation gives a set number of breaths followed by a pause until the next activation for breath (one activation gives one breath cycle), or one activation results in continuous cycle of intermittent breaths). In some embodiments, a signaling mechanism may deliver signals to a rescuer relating to timing of chest compressions of the person. The timing of the chest compressions for the signals may be based on a time of delivery of the artificial respirations. In certain embodiments, different sized masks each include a gas flow restrictor which is unique for the size of mask. The ventilator system may assess the size of the mask based on a pressure differential created by the unique gas flow restrictor.

Provided is a method that includes automatically providing air/oxygen at a pre-selected maximum pressure limit, breath volume and respiratory-rate. The pre-selected maximum pressure limit, breath volume, and respiratory-rate are automatically set as a function of a size of a mask coupled to an air/oxygen supply system. Further provided is a ventilator system that includes a ventilator mask, a ventilator supply system, and a mask conduit. The ventilator mask is configured in a size that will fit upon a selected range of sizes of human faces. The ventilator supply system includes an air/oxygen source and an air/oxygen regulator system configured to regulate air/oxygen flow parameters as a function of the size of the mask. The mask conduit is configured to couple the ventilator supply to the ventilator mask.

Provided is a portable ventilator system, including a ventilator supply system having a ventilator mask, an air/oxygen source and an air/oxygen regulator system, and including a communications device that, during use, automatically contacts an emergency response entity in response to activation of the portable ventilator system. Also provided is a ventilator system that includes at least one ventilator mask sized to fit upon a selected range of sizes of human faces, a ventilator supply system having an air/oxygen source and an air/oxygen regulator system, and an air/oxygen flow regulation valve having an inlet, an inlet/outlet in communication with a ventilator mask coupled to the ventilator supply system, and an outlet in communication with a surrounding atmosphere. During use, air/oxygen flows through the inlet and the inlet/outlet to facilitate ventilation of a human, and air/oxygen flows through the inlet/outlet and the outlet to facilitate exhalation by a human to the surrounding atmosphere. Further, during use, one of the ventilator masks is coupled to the ventilator supply system to provide air/oxygen to a human, and the air/oxygen regulator system regulates air/oxygen flow parameters as a function of a size of the ventilator mask coupled to the ventilator supply system.

Air/oxygen supply system and method

A method of fabricating a vertically mountable integrated circuit (IC) package is presented. An integrated circuit is mounted on a printed circuit board (PCB) and electrically coupled to a bond pad on the PCB. The bond pad is coupled with a via that is embedded in the PCB. The IC, the bond pad, the via, and a portion of the PCB are singulated in order to create a vertically mountable IC package. The via is cut through cross-sectionally during singulation so as to expose a portion of the via and thereby provide a mountable area for the IC package. The IC package may be encapsulated or housed in a dielectric material. In addition, the via may be treated with a preservative or other s-uitable electroless metal plating deposition that prevents oxidation and promotes solderability.

A dissolving tank for dissolving a large amount of gas in a liquid and including a generally horizontally disposed tray (28) (29) mounted within the tank (2) (21) to divide the tank (2) (21) into an upper reaction zone (36) and a lower discharge zone (38). The tray (28) (29) has formed therein both a central opening (34) (35) for fluid communication between the discharge zone (38) and the reaction zone (36) and peripheral openings (32) (33) which allow any liquid which collects on the tray (28) (29) to flow from reaction zone (36) to discharge zone (38). The dissolving tank further includes liquid feed means (10) positioned within the tank (2) (21) below the tray (28) (29) to discharge liquid upwardly through the central opening (34) (35) of the tray (28) (29) and into the reaction zone (36). The dissolving tank further includes liquid distribution means (14) mounted within the tank (2) (21) above the tray (28) (29) and having flared sidewalls (15) and a vertically-oriented distribution orifice (16). The distribution means (14) is positioned so that a portion of the liquid discharged upwardly from the feed means (10) impacts on the flared sidewalls (15) and is distributed as droplets within the reaction zone (36) and another portion of the liquid discharged from the feed means (10) passes upwardly through the distribution orifice (16) toward the top (3) of the tank (2) (21).
