A hand truck assembly includes a lightweight body, such as is formed of a blow molded plastic material, in combination with a folding metal platen for supporting a load. The platen has a support area and a pair of mounting ears which extend upwardly from the support area. An axle extends through a transverse passage defined by the body, and the platen is pivotably mounted to the axle for movement between an inoperative raised position and an operative lowered position. A guide arrangement is interposed between the body and the platen for guiding movement of the platen between its operative lowered position and inoperative raised position. The body includes parallel rail sections which impart significant strength to the body. The body further includes an upper handle section having a forwardly directed handle, which provides ergonomically advantageous operation of the hand truck assembly. The hand truck assembly is compact, lightweight and strong, and provides significant ease of use yet ability to handle relatively heavy loads.

An improved binding for use with snowshoes and like sport apparatus is disclosed which employs a novel mounting arrangement similar to the calcanean wrapping technique used by athletic trainers to wrap the ankles of athletes, thereby resulting in an ambidextrous binding which comfortably and securely fits a wide variety of sizes of feet in an ergonomic manner while enhancing the performance of both the binding and the snowshoe to which it is attached. The binding has left and right side members pivotally mounted on a base member between the front and an intermediate longitudinal position thereupon, and left and right calcanean wrap members pivotally mounted on the base member near the rear thereof. A first set of straps overlies the side member and the calcanean wrap member on the left side are encircles the right side of the calcaneus of the foot of a wearer, and a second set of straps overlies the side member and the calcanean wrap member on the right side are encircles the left side of the calcaneus of the foot of a wearer.

An extendible tree trimmer includes an extendible tube unit with a motor and a cutting blade connected to the opposite ends. The tube unit includes a first housing and a telescopic second housing connected by a releasable coupling unit. A first shaft connected to the motor extends through the first housing and second shaft is telescoped with the first shaft and extends through the second housing to the cutting blade. The housings are releasably coupled for telescoped positioning. A rotary bearing supports the shafts in the housings. A gear reduction unit and a slip clutch unit connects the motor to the first shaft. The cutter head includes a rotating cam secured to the second shaft. The cam has a peripheral groove with axially offset portions and with a follower in said groove. The follower is secured to the blade which reciprocates in the plane of the blade. The blade has teeth on the opposed edges to cut with the blade moving toward the housing. The face of the cutter support is S-shaped with a concave upper wall and a convex lower wall for engaging a limb. The bearing includes an inner race having a hexagonal cross-section in sliding coupling to the first shaft of corresponding cross-section. An enlarged outer guide head releasably on the end of the first shaft slides within the tubular shaft. The second shaft is tubular and is secured to the inner race connecting said tubular shaft to said first shaft for simultaneous rotation with the first shaft. The outer race of the bearing has a stepped surface secured to the second housing and slidable within the first housing. A handle is secured to the housing by a pivot connection such that the handle is horizontal for all positions of the trimmer.

An ice guard to receive a food container in crushed, flaked, cubed, or broken ice is provided having a side wall which includes a first end and a second end. The first end receives a first size of food container. The second end includes an inwardly intruding rim which receives a second, smaller size of food container. The side wall can define a plurality of apertures to cool the food container. By simply inverting the ice guard, different size food containers can be accommodated.
