A transparent, plastic, one-piece, tamper-resistant/evident container includes a cover portion including an outwardly extending peripheral flange and a base portion having an upper peripheral rim. A tamper-evident hinge joins the cover portion with the base portion. The hinge includes a frangible section. When the container is closed, the outwardly extending peripheral flange of the cover portion abuts the upper peripheral rim of the base portion and the upper peripheral rim of the base portion extends beyond an outer edge of the outwardly extending peripheral flange of the cover portion and deters opening the container.

Tamper-resistant and tamper-evident containers

Disclosed is a container for protecting baked goods during shipment that includes, among other elements, a lid and a base. The base includes a plurality of wells and interconnected posts. Each well is adapted for supporting a baked good during shipment. The interconnected posts are formed in the base and extend upwardly from a base bottom. Each post is positioned adjacent to at least one of the wells and includes a retainer shoulder that is positioned proximate an upper end of the post and adapted to positively capture baked goods in each of the adjacent wells.

A tamper-resistant container with tamper-evident features includes a cover portion including an outwardly extending peripheral flange and a base portion an upper peripheral rim and a skirt depending downwardly therefrom. The upper peripheral rim extending substantially about the perimeter of the container and configured to substantially surround the outwardly extending peripheral flange of the cover portion to render the outwardly extending peripheral flange of the cover portion relatively inaccessible when the container is closed. The container includes a hinge joining the cover portion to the base portion. The vertical height of the hinge correlates with the height of the skirt that depends downwardly from the base portion when the height of the skirt is substantially uniform around the perimeter of the container. The hinge includes a frangible section including at least one line of weakness which, when severed, facilitates removal of the cover portion from the base portion.

A method of thermoforming a tamper-resistant/tamper-evident container includes forming a cover portion that includes an outwardly extending peripheral flange, forming a base portion including an upper peripheral rim and a skirt depending downwardly therefrom. The upper peripheral rim is configured to communicate with at least a portion of the outwardly extending peripheral flange of the cover portion to hinder access to the container when the container is closed. Forming a hinge joining the cover portion and the base portion such that the vertical height of the hinge correlates with the height of the skirt that depends downwardly from the base portion when the height of the skirt is substantially uniform around the perimeter of the container and forming at least one line of weakness in the hinge, the line of weakness is severed to facilitate removal of the cover portion from the base portion to open the container.

Methods of manufacturing tamper-resistant and tamper evident containers

A tamper-resistant container with tamper-evident features which includes a cover portion defining a peripheral flange, a base portion defining an upper peripheral edge, and a hinge joining the cover portion with the base portion. The upper peripheral edge includes an upwardly projecting bead extending substantially about the perimeter of the base portion that is configured to render the peripheral flange of the cover portion relatively inaccessible when the container is closed. The hinge includes a frangible portion for facilitating the removal of the cover portion from the base portion to open the container.

A tamper-resistant container with tamper-evident features which includes a cover portion defining a outwardly extending peripheral flange, a base portion defining an upper peripheral edge, a hinge joining the outwardly extending peripheral flange with the base portion and an engagement mechanism for maintaining the peripheral flange adjacent to the upper peripheral edge when the container is closed. The upper peripheral edge includes an upwardly projecting bead extending substantially about the perimeter of the base portion that is configured to render the outwardly extending flange of the cover portion relatively inaccessible when the container is closed. The hinge includes a frangible section, which upon severing, provides a projection that extends out beyond the upwardly projecting bead of the upper peripheral edge of the base portion, for facilitating the disengagement of the engagement mechanism and removal of the cover portion from the base portion to open the container.

Tamper-resistant container with tamper-evident feature and method of forming the same

By providing a system for controllably applying and wrapping a label into direct, secure, affixed adhesive engagement with the flange or lip of a container, a dependable, effective, and reliable label applying apparatus and label application method is realized which securely affixes a tamper evident label in its entirety to a product container on a continuous production basis, totally eliminating unwanted tenting of labels. By employing the present invention, a product holding container, having a forwardly protruding lip or flange, is advanced towards a label dispensing zone with the label positioned for contacting the top surface of the forwardly protruding flange. Once the label is attached thereto, the label bearing flange/lip is advanced into contact with the label wrapping cam means for placing the label in the desired position. Thereafter, the label wrapped flange or lip is passed through cooperating rollers which force the label into secure affixation with the top and bottom surfaces of the protruding lip or flange.

Label applying apparatus and method therefor

By providing a system for contacting a label and controllably moving the label into direct, secure, adhesive engagement with a container and its flange member, a dependable, effective, and reliable label applying apparatus and label application method is realized which securely affixes a label in its entirety to a product container on a continuous production basis, totally eliminating unwanted tenting of labels. By employing the present invention, a product holding container, having a forwardly protruding lip or flange, is advanced towards a label dispensing zone with the label positioned for contacting the leading-edge of the forwardly protruding flange. Once the label is attached, typically at its midpoint, to the leading edge of the forwardly protruding lip or flange, label smoothing or tamping means are advanced into contact with the central portion of the label, advancing the center of the label into secure affixation with the top and bottom surfaces of the protruding lip or flange, as well as the front end of the product container.
