Methods and apparatus for determining positions of a stowable pedal assembly are disclosed. An example apparatus to determine a position of a stowable pedal assembly of a vehicle includes motor control circuitry to provide a control signal to a motor operatively coupled to the stowable pedal assembly, the motor to cause movement of the stowable pedal assembly toward a desired position, response detection circuitry to detect a current response of the motor to the control signal, and position determination circuitry to determine the position of the stowable pedal assembly based on the current response.

Methods and apparatus for determining positions of a stowable pedal assembly

A method for controlling brake pressure during a shift of a vehicle out of park may include determining that a first status condition is met when the vehicle is in park with an electric parking brake applied, determining that a second status condition is met when the vehicle is not moving, responsive to detecting a shift of the vehicle out of park when the first and second status conditions are both met, directing a build-up of brake pressure until a brake pressure target is reached, and holding the brake pressure at the brake pressure target until a release condition is met.

A vehicle includes a computer including a processor and a memory storing instructions executable by the processor to identify a vehicle being in an autonomous drive mode. The computer includes instructions to detect a user request to change the drive mode from the autonomous drive mode to a manual drive mode. The computer includes instructions to prompt a user to validate the brake pedal being in the deployed position. Stowable pedal assembly

A vehicle control system may include a brake pedal position sensor, a braking torque module, an accelerator pedal position sensor, and a brake augmenter. The brake pedal position sensor is operably coupled to a brake pedal to determine a brake pedal position responsive to actuation of the brake pedal by an operator. The braking torque module is operably coupled to wheels of the vehicle to provide negative torque to the wheels based on the brake pedal position when an EBB system is in an operable state. The accelerator pedal position sensor is operably coupled to an accelerator pedal to determine accelerator pedal position for generation of positive torque to the wheels based on the accelerator pedal position when the EBB system is in the operable state. The brake augmenter is operably coupled to the accelerator pedal position sensor to provide a negative torque input to the wheels responsive to the accelerator pedal position sensor indicating a first range of pedal positions and a positive torque input to the wheels responsive to the accelerator pedal position sensor indicating a second range of pedal positions when the EBB system is in an inoperable state.

Brake assist for an inoperable electronic booster brake system

A vehicle control system includes a brake module operably coupled to a braking system to provide a braking torque request, a steering module operably coupled to a steering system to provide a steering input request, a power supply, and a power management module. The power supply is operably coupled to the brake module and the steering module to provide power to the brake module and the steering module. The power supply has a power budget indicating a maximum power providable to the brake module and the steering module. The power management module is operably coupled to sensors to receive a power draw indication from one of the brake module or the steering module and control power draw of the other of the steering module or the brake module to maintain a combined power draw of the brake module and the steering module below the power budget.

A vehicle and a method for controlling regenerative braking may utilize the maximum available regenerative braking torque for some time during a braking event. As the vehicle speed and/or powertrain torque decreases, the regenerative braking torque is controlled to deviate from the maximum. The point at which the regenerative braking torque deviates from the maximum is chosen based on the level of vehicle deceleration. The regenerative braking torque is then smoothly blended out until it reaches zero. The regenerative braking torque is brought to zero when the vehicle speed is very low, thereby eliminating the inefficiencies associated with operating a motor at a very low speed.
