Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for remotely managing access to an area. An access management platform, which can be an electronic lock that is installed on, e.g., a door of a house, can enable a user to establish a virtual presence at the door. In one example, a delivery person activates a doorbell button/icon of the access management platform, which sends a message to a smartphone of the owner of the platform. The owner, who is at work, uses his smartphone to initiate a video stream using a camera of the platform, and a two way audio stream. The owner sees and initiates a discussion with the delivery person. The owner uses his smartphone to unlock the door, and asks the delivery person to open the door and deliver the package inside. The owner uses his smartphone to capture his signature to acknowledge the delivery.

Access management system

A locking device that can be mounted into a rotating or swinging door is disclosed. The locking device can have a deadbolt. The locking device can detect the position of the deadbolt and/or whether the door is closed. The locking device can have a camera, microphone and speaker. The locking device can send images detected by the camera and audio detected by the microphones to a remote computer.

Door tracking system and method

Disclosed are an apparatus and method that enables an owner/administrator to manage access to a shared resource based on identity that is established by use of biometric data. For example, access to a shared physical resource can be restricted via use of a biometric locking device. An access management platform can be used to authorize a new user to access the shared resource. Once authorized, the new user can unlock the biometric locking device based on, for example, fingerprint data of his finger. The access management platform can similarly be used to manage access to a virtual shared resource, such as an online account. A virtual locking device, such as a computer that acts as an intermediary between the user and the online account, can be used to restrict access to the online account. The access management platform can enable the user to access the online account based on biometric data.

Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for managing access to a shared resource based on identity that is established by use of personal data, such as biometric data, a password, etc. An electronic lock can be used to restrict access to a shared resource, such as a house, a car, etc. In some embodiments, the electronic lock establishes an identity of a user based on personal data obtained by a personal data device of the electronic lock. In some embodiments, the electronic lock includes a sensor that generates security-related sensor data, such as motion sensor data, proximity data, etc. The electronic lock can take a security-related action based on the security-related data. For example, the electronic lock can send a message indicating a possible break in attempt when the motion sensor data indicates motion indicative of a break in.

Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for managing access to a shared resource based on identity that is established by use of biometric data. A biometric locking device (i.e., a 'b-lock') can be used to restrict access to a shared resource, such as a house, a car, etc. In some embodiments, the b-lock can establish an identity of a user based on biometric data obtained by a biometric sensor of the b-lock, and can register the biometric data. After the biometric data is registered, the user can scan, e.g., his finger using the biometric sensor of the b-lock, and the b-lock can verify that the biometric data obtained based on the scan of the finger matches the registered biometric data. Once verified, the b-lock can unlock a locking mechanism of the b-lock to enable the user to access the shared resource.

A compact power divider/combiner with flexible port spacing is disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, an apparatus includes a three port circuit having first, second, and third ports, and a matching circuit configured to couple the second and third ports to ground. The matching circuit includes a first transmission line connected between a first port and a second port, a second transmission line connected between the first port and a third port, a first matching circuit connected between the second port and a first node, a second matching circuit connected between the first node and the third port, and a third matching circuit connected between the first node and a ground.

Compact power divider/combiner with flexible output spacing

A digitally controlled phase shifter is disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, an apparatus includes a first component connected between a first terminal and a node, a second component connected between a second terminal and the node, an impedance selectively connected between the first and second terminals by a first switch, and a second switch to connected between the node and a ground. The apparatus is configured to provide a first amount of phase shift when the first and second switches are in an open position, and a second amount of phase shift when the first and second switches are in a closed position.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide apparatus for producing an output signal that may have a phase difference with respect to an input signal. One example phase shifting circuit for producing such an output signal generally includes a transmission line having first and second points, an impedance connected with a node and with a reference voltage level, a first switch connected with the first point of the transmission line and with the node, and a second switch connected with the second point of the transmission line and with the node, wherein a first signal input to the first point of the transmission line has a phase difference with a second signal output from the second point based on one or more properties of the transmission line when the first and second switches are open.

Passive switch-based phase shifter

Techniques for the design of low cost, low complexity phased arrays are described. The techniques allow control of the phase progression in the entire phased array by using only one phase shifter for a bank of arrays. In some examples, the phased array includes directional couplers, amplifying stages, power combiners and a phase shifter. The phase shifter may be of various kinds, including simple and compact phase shifters formed of varactor diodes and inductors or transmission lines.

A bidirectional matching network is disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, an apparatus includes a first matching circuit connected in a first signal path between a node and a first amplifier, the first matching circuit configured to translate an off-state impedance of the first amplifier to a first translated off-state impedance. The apparatus also includes a second matching circuit connected in a second signal path between the node and a second amplifier. The second matching circuit configured to translate an off-state impedance of the second amplifier to a second translated off-state impedance. The second translated off-state impedance is configured to reduce power loss associated with a first signal flowing in the first signal path and the first translated off-state impedance is configured to reduce power loss associated with a second signal flowing in the second signal path.
