A method of establishing connectivity between a mobile network operator (MNO) and a machine type communications (MTC) service provider. A machine type communications interworking function (MTC-IWF) Proxy is hosted on an IPX network service. MTC-IWF Proxy is connected to a MTC-IWF of the MNO and is also connected to a Service Capacities Center (SCS) of the MTC service provider. MTC-IWF Proxy connects to the MNO and the MTC service providers via trigger-service provider (Tsp) interface. Identity mapping services are provided between a first set of subscriber identifiers used by the MNO and a second set of subscriber identities used by the MTC service provider. The MTC-IWF Proxy hides the internal topology and relays signaling protocols used over a Tsp interface, thus enabling the MTC service providers and MNOs communicate without modifying their internal signaling protocols.

A system for the centralized storage of messages on a telecommunications network includes a processor, memory, and a storage device. The storage device has a message store portion for storing message information, a transaction segment portion for storing segment information, and a message device status portion for storing device information. The message store portion is associated with the transaction segment portion and the device status portion.

System for the storage and retrieval of messages

An adapter for passing messages in a telecommunications infrastructure from a first device to a second device. The adapter comprises a messaging interface, a processor, and a bus interface. The messaging interface is in communication with the first device and is operable to receive a received message in a first messaging format from the first device. The processor is coupled to the messaging interface and is operable to receive the received message from the messaging interface and translate the received message into a common message in a common format. The bus interface is coupled to the processor and is operable to receive the common message from the processor and transmit the common message to the second device through a bus.

An enhanced alerting system delivers caller identification information to a user of a mobile communications device with the called device announcing in an audio format the name associated with a calling device. The enhanced alerting system may be implemented by an Internet Protocol (IP) based system, e.g., IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). In at least one embodiment of the invention, an application server streams the announcement to the called communications device. In at least one embodiment of the invention, the service is network controlled. In at least one embodiment of the invention, the service is user equipment controlled. In at least one embodiment of the invention, a calling communications device streams the announcement to the called communications device in a request for a call session with the called communications device.

System for handling file attachments

Voice mail service in an environment having multiple voice mail technology platforms is provide by an Automatic Message Attendant (AMA) device and a subscriber profile database. The AMA device has a platform selector element that queries the subscriber profile database for voice mail technology platform indicator information, which it then uses to select a voice mail technology platform. Additionally, the AMA device may also have a greeting player and message recorder element that queries an announcement database, and a content adapter element that queries a message format requirement database. Thus, the AMA device may also provide call termination functionality by playing a greeting and recording a message from the caller, and converting the recorded message into a format suitable for use with the selected voice mail technology platform.
