A non-occlusive blood restricting device is provided for delivery by a microcatheter and for treating a vascular malformation. The blood restricting device includes a wire that include first and second sections. The first section is configured to be coiled into a first coil when deployed within the vascular malformation. The first coil includes a spiral or sequence of loops, the spiral or sequence of loops having a gradually decreasing diameter. The first coil is configured to line a neck, a wall, or the neck and the wall of the vascular malformation so as to at least partially cover an orifice of the vascular malformation. The second section is configured to be deployed within a blood vessel, adjacent the vascular malformation. The second section is configured to form a second coil, circumferentially lining a wall of the blood vessel. Other embodiments are also described.

Device for restricting blood flow to aneurysms

A non-occlusive device is provided that includes a coilable section and a docking section. When deployed from a microcatheter within a wide-neck vascular aneurysm, the coilable section is configured to become coiled into a coil defining a sequence of concentric loops, and to bridge a neck of the aneurysm so as to at least partially cover an orifice of the aneurysm, when in use. The docking section is configured to be deployed from the microcatheter within the aneurysm. The docking section extends distally from an outermost one of the concentric loops of the coil, and is shaped so as to define one loop or a plurality of concentric loops having an outer diameter less than an outer diameter of the concentric loops of the coil. The docking section is configured to anchor, stabilize, and/or assist with positioning of the device within the aneurysm. Other embodiments are also described.

An apparatus is provided for treating a vascular malformation. The apparatus includes an orifice section, an intra-vascular-malformation docking section, and a connecting section. The apparatus is configured such that, when unconstrained the orifice section is shaped so as to define an orifice-section curve that winds at least 2.5 turns around an orifice-section central axis at a changing distance from the orifice-section central axis, the intra-vascular-malformation docking section is shaped so as to define a docking-section curve that winds between 0.5 and 2 turns around a docking-section central axis at a changing or constant distance from the docking-section central axis, and the connecting section connects the orifice-section curve with the docking-section curve, and has an average radius of curvature that is different from an average radius of curvature of an outermost loop of the orifice-section curve. Other embodiments are also described.

Devices for treating vascular malformations

A non-occlusive blood-restricting device is provided for treating a vascular malformation. The blood-restricting device includes a first section configured to assume a first shape when deployed from a microcatheter within a portion of the vascular malformation so as to at least partially cover an orifice of the vascular malformation, the portion of the vascular malformation including one or more anatomical features selected from the group consisting of: a neck of the vascular malformation and a wall of the vascular malformation. The first shape defines a sequence of loops having a gradually decreasing diameter and coaxial around a first central axis. The blood-restricting device also includes a second section configured to assume a second shape when deployed from the microcatheter. The second shape defines a single loop around a second central axis when the blood-restricting device is not restrained. Other embodiments are also described.

A delivery tool includes a tubular distal tip fixed to a distal end of a delivery tube. A retention portion of an implant wire of an implant is removably disposed within the tubular distal tip. A pull wire has a distal end portion that is shaped so as to define a pull-wire loop and is removably disposed partially within the delivery tube. A safety wire is removably disposed partially within the tubular distal tip, with a distal portion of the safety wire passing through a tip distal opening. The safety wire has a proximal end portion that is shaped so as to define a safety-wire hook hooked on the pull-wire loop. Proximal pulling on the pull wire proximally retracts the safety wire from the tip distal opening, thereby allowing the retention portion to pass through the tubular distal tip. Other embodiments are also described.

Vascular-malformation implant system

A non-occlusive device is provided that includes a coilable section and a docking section. When deployed from a microcatheter within a wide-neck vascular aneurysm, the coilable section is configured to become coiled into a coil defining a sequence of concentric loops, and to bridge a neck of the aneurysm so as to at least partially cover an orifice of the aneurysm, when in use. The docking section is configured to be deployed from the microcatheter within the aneurysm. The docking section extends distally from an outermost one of the concentric loops of the coil, and is shaped so as to define one or more concentric loops having an outer diameter less than an outer diameter of the concentric loops of the coil. The docking section is configured to anchor, stabilize, and/or assist with positioning of the device within the aneurysm. Other embodiments are also described.

A non-occlusive device is provided that includes a coilable section and a docking section. The coilable section is configured to become coiled into a coil when deployed from a microcatheter within a vascular malformation. The coil is shaped so as to define a sequence of concentric loops. The coil is configured to bridge a neck of the vascular malformation so as to at least partially cover an orifice of the vascular malformation, when in use. The docking section is configured to be deployed from the microcatheter within the vascular malformation. The docking section is configured to, when in use, perform one or more functions selected from the group consisting of: anchoring the device within the vascular malformation, stabilizing the device within the vascular malformation, assisting with positioning of the device within the vascular malformation, and intertwining detachable coils delivered to the vascular malformation. Other embodiments are also described.

Medical device for treating vascular malformations

A non-occlusive blood-restricting device is provided for use with a microcatheter and for treating a vascular malformation. The device includes a first section, a second section, and an intermediate section. The first section is configured to assume a first shape when deployed from the microcatheter within a portion of the vascular malformation so as to at least partially cover an orifice of the vascular malformation. The first shape defines a sequence of loops having a gradually decreasing diameter. The second section is configured to assume a second shape when deployed from the microcatheter, wherein the second shape defines a sequence of one or more loops having a constant or gradually decreasing diameter. The intermediate section connects the first and the second sections and is configured to space apart the first and the second sections when deployed from the microcatheter. Other embodiments are also described.

An intravascular device () includes an elongated shaft () extending in an axial direction and an expandable braided arrangement () of a plurality of filaments. The braided arrangement has a proximal end, a distal end (), and an intermediate region therebetween. The intravascular device can include an endpiece (-) located proximate an intersection of the elongated shaft and the braided arrangement. The endpiece can be configured to orient the filaments in a substantially single file continuum. At a junction with the endpiece, the filaments can initially extend in a substantially parallel, non-crossing manner, and as the filaments extend toward the intermediate region, the initially extending non-crossing filaments can cross each other.
