A computing device computes curve descriptive values to correct an error estimate of a prediction. A predefined number of times, an input dataset is split into a training dataset and a validation dataset, a predictive model and a domain model are trained, the trained predictive model and the trained domain model are validated, a predictive error value, a residual value, and a domain error value are computed, and each value is stored in output data. A domain threshold value is computed from the stored domain error values. Each predictive error value and each residual value stored in the output data is stored in in-domain output data when a respective domain error value is less than or equal to the computed domain threshold value. Curve descriptive values are computed to describe a relationship between the residual values as a function of the prediction error values stored in the in-domain output data.

System for automatic error estimate correction for a machine learning model

Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are provided. A SOFC may comprise a cathode, an anode, and a solid oxide electrolyte between the anode and the cathode, wherein the cathode comprises a perovskite compound. The perovskite compound may be characterized by a log k* value which is less negative than about &#x2212;6.0 cm/s; an energy above the convex hull of less than about 40 meV/(formula unit); a bandgap of about 0 and a charge transfer gap of about 0.

Perovskite compounds for stable, high activity solid oxide fuel cell cathodes and other applications

Cathode coatings for lithium ion batteries, cathodes coated with the coatings, and lithium ion batteries incorporating the coated cathodes are provided. The coatings, which are composed of binary, ternary, and higher order metal oxides and/or metalloid oxides, can reduce the hydrofluoric acid (HF)-induced degradation of the electrolyte and/or cathodes, thereby improving the performance of lithium ion batteries, relative to lithium ion batteries that employ bare cathodes.

Protective cathode coatings for lithium-ion batteries

An electron emitter device is provided comprising a cathode comprising a conductive transition metal perovskite oxide comprising mobile conducting electrons exhibiting a conductivity of at least 10&#x3a9;-cmat room temperature, the transition metal perovskite oxide having a surface from which the mobile electrons are induced to emit upon receiving sufficient energy from an energy source; and an anode electrically coupled to the cathode and positioned to define an interelectrode conductive region between the anode and the cathode, onto which anode the emitted electrons are collected. The transition metal perovskite oxide may have formula SrBaVO. Related methods and devices based on the electron emitter device are also provided.

Perovskites as ultra-low work function electron emission materials

Electrochemical devices which incorporate cathode materials that include layered crystalline compounds for which a structural modification has been achieved which increases the diffusion rate of multi-valent ions into and out of the cathode materials. Examples in which the layer spacing of the layered electrode materials is modified to have a specific spacing range such that the spacing is optimal for diffusion of magnesium ions are presented. An electrochemical cell comprised of a positive intercalation electrode, a negative metal electrode, and a separator impregnated with a nonaqueous electrolyte solution containing multi-valent ions and arranged between the positive electrode and the negative electrode active material is described.

The invention provides an electrochemical cell which includes a first electrode and a second electrode which is a counter electrode to said first electrode, and an electrolyte material interposed there between. The first electrode includes an alkali metal phosphorous compound doped with an element having a valence state greater than that of the alkali metal.

Systems and methods for predicting features of materials of interest. Reference data are analyzed to deduce relationships between the input data sets and output data sets. Reference data includes measured values and/or computed values. The deduced relationships can be specified as equations, correspondences, and/or algorithmic processes that produce appropriate output data when suitable input data is used. In some instances, the output data set is a subset of the input data set, and computational results may be refined by optionally iterating the computational procedure. To deduce features of a new material of interest, a computed or measured input property of the material is provided to an equation, correspondence, or algorithmic procedure previously deduced, and an output is obtained. In some instances, the output is iteratively refined. In some instances, new features deduced for the material of interest are added to a database of input and output data for known materials.
