A dual-fuel engine system for a work vehicle includes an engine with a piston-cylinder arrangement defining a combustion chamber and an engine control unit (ECU). The ECU has a processing and memory architecture configured to execute instructions to deliver to the engine only a first fuel when an operating load of the engine is less than 5 a first predetermined threshold, deliver only a second fuel and operate the engine stoichiometrically when the operating load is greater than a second predetermined threshold. The second predetermined threshold is greater than the first predetermined threshold.

Dual-fuel engine systems for work vehicle

A work vehicle having an engine that generates exhaust gases flowing through an exhaust flow path to an exhaust vent includes a nitrogen-oxide (NOx) reduction device, a particulate filter, a temperature sensor sensing a temperature associated with the exhaust gases, and a plurality of flow control devices in the exhaust flow path between the engine and the exhaust vent. The plurality of flow control devices are operable to define a first flow path when the sensed temperature is less than a predetermined temperature threshold and a second flow path otherwise. The NOx reduction device is upstream of the particulate filter relative to the exhaust flow path in the first flow path and the particulate filter is upstream of the NOx reduction device relative to the exhaust flow path in the second flow path.

A power system for a work vehicle includes an intake arrangement for intake of charge air; a fuel arrangement including a fuel tank storing a low carbon fuel blend; an engine configured to receive, ignite, and combust a mixture of the charge air and the low carbon fuel blend; an exhaust arrangement positioned downstream to receive exhaust from the engine during combustion of the low carbon fuel blend; at least one exhaust sensor positioned at or proximate to the exhaust arrangement; and a controller. The controller is configured to receive an initial indication of a composition of the low carbon fuel blend; implement operating parameters with feedforward adjustments based on the initial indication of the composition of the low carbon fuel blend; receive feedback from the at least one exhaust sensor regarding operational conditions; and adjust the operating parameters based on the feedback.

A power system includes an intake arrangement configured to intake charge air; a fuel arrangement configured to store a blend of methane (CH) and hydrogen (H) fuel; an engine configured to receive, ignite, and combust a mixture of the charge air and the blend of methane (CH) and hydrogen (H) fuel; and a controller coupled to selectively command such that, in a first mode, the controller commands the one or more of the intake arrangement, the fuel arrangement, and the engine such that the charge air and the blend of methane (CH) and hydrogen (H) fuel are introduced at a stoichiometric equivalence ratio; and in a second mode, the controller commands the one or more of the intake arrangement, the fuel arrangement, and the engine such that the charge and the blend of methane (CH) and hydrogen (H) fuel are introduced at a lean equivalence ratio.

A power system for a work vehicle is provided and includes an intake arrangement configured to intake charge air; a fuel arrangement including a first fuel tank configured to store a first fuel and a second fuel tank configured to store a second fuel; a compression ignition engine including a plurality of piston-cylinder sets configured to receive, ignite, and combust the first fuel, the second fuel, or a combination of the first and second fuels from the fuel arrangement with the charge air from the intake arrangement to generate mechanical power and exhaust gas; and an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) arrangement configured to direct a portion of the exhaust gas back into the compression ignition engine. The fuel arrangement is arranged to selectively inject the second fuel into the EGR arrangement.

An engine system includes an internal combustion engine, an electrical power system configured to provide electrical power in the engine system, and an electrified air system powered by the electrical power system to selectively increase a flow of intake air and exhaust gas to the engine. The electrified air system further includes an EGR pump operable to recirculate a portion of exhaust gas output from the engine and an electric turbocharger including a turbine, a compressor driven by the turbine via a shaft coupled therebetween, and an electrical machine coupled to the shaft. The electrical machine is configured to operate in a motoring mode to drive the shaft and cause the compressor to output boosted intake air to the engine and operate in a generating mode to transform rotational power from the shaft into electrical power that is provided back into the electrical power system.

An exhaust gas treatment system for an internal combustion engine includes an exhaust gas pathway that receives exhaust gas from the engine, a temperature sensor configured to generate a temperature signal associated with a temperature of the exhaust gas at a position along the exhaust gas pathway, and a reductant source. The system also includes first and second injectors in fluid communication with the reductant source. The first and second injectors are configured to inject reductant into the exhaust gas pathway at first and second rates. The system also includes a first treatment element positioned downstream of the first injector and within the exhaust gas pathway, and a controller in communication with the temperature sensor. The controller is configured to receive the temperature signal from the temperature sensor and adjust at least one of the first rate or the second rate based at least in part on the temperature signal.

A method of treating exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine as the exhaust gas passes through an exhaust gas pathway includes injecting reductant into the exhaust gas pathway with a reductant injector, filtering particulate matter from the exhaust gas with a first treatment element located downstream of the reductant injector, oxidizing soot on the first treatment element with ozone, and converting nitrogen oxides (NOx) from the exhaust gas with a second treatment element located downstream of the reductant injector.

One or more exhaust air flow bypasses are controlled during operation of the heater and heating of an exhaust air flow is maintained by the heater prior to activation of the SCR system.
