The invention relates to a sensor and guide wire assembly () for intravascular measurements of physiological variables in a living body, comprising a core wire (), a first coil (), a jacket (), and a second coil (). The jacket () comprises a first end portion (), which is crimped onto the core wire () and over which a portion of the first coil () is threaded, and a second end portion (), which is crimped onto the core wire () and over which a portion of the second coil () is threaded.

The present invention provides a dissolvable medical sealing device () for closing a wound in vessel. A sealing device () according to the invention is made of a material that dissolves by means of physical processes, rather than by means of chemical or biological processes. Such a sealing device () can be made of polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol, copolymers containing ethylene glycol and propylene glycol, polyvinyl alcohol or polyvinyl pyrolidone, or any combinations thereof.

Insertion tool for a medical closure device for the sealing of an opening in a wall of a bodily organ, comprising a tamping force source adapted to deliver a first member to a position at the opening on one side of the wall subsequently to a second member being positioned at the opening on the opposite side of the wall. The tamping force source, which is energized prior to the tamping procedure, can be for example a spring, an elastic band or a pressurized gas container. A tamping spring can be compressed or extended upon loading. The tamping force source can be released in response to a manual operation or be triggered by retraction of the insertion tool.

A tool () is provided for inserting and mating two plug members () of a sealing device () for closing a wound in the wall of a vessel by placing the distal plug member () of the sealing device inside the vessel and the proximal plug member () on the outside of the vessel. Tool, a sealing device, a system and a method for closing a wound

The invention provides a closure device () for sealing an incision channel leading through a vessel wall and into the vessel. The closure device () comprises a haemostatic material (), which is contained in the distal end of an elongated insertion assembly (). The insertion assembly (), which comprises a stationary part () and a retractable part () being slidably movable with regard to each other, is adapted to be attached to an introducer () being in position in the incision channel, so that the insertion assembly () can be slid along the introducer () until the distal end of the insertion assembly () is in contact with the vessel wall, where the haemostatic material () is delivered in the incision channel by a retracting movement of the retractable part ().

Closure device

A femoral compression device () for compressive bearing against the femoral artery of a patient, comprising a base plate (), an inflatable air cushion (), and an electronic manometer () connected to the inflatable air cushion for measurement of the current pressure difference between the pressure prevailing inside the inflatable air cushion and the ambient air pressure. The femoral compression device can further comprise a mechanical device () which prevents an air opening leading to the inflatable air cushion from being closed before the manometer is zeroed. In another embodiment, an electronic manometer is provided such that a current characteristic of an electric signal representing the current pressure difference can be compared with a corresponding characteristic which was obtained at zero pressure difference and which was stored in the electronic manometer, wherein the manometer cannot be zeroed as long as the current characteristic deviates more than a predetermined amount from the stored characteristic.

An indicator device for visually indicating a pressure of blood inside a blood vessel includes: a body, the body comprising a duct extending in the body and having a sealed proximal end; a distal end portion adapted to be positioned inside the blood vessel and including a liquid inlet opening in fluid communication with the duct; and a window including an at least semi-transparent section configured to enable visual observation of blood entering into the duct via the inlet opening when the inlet opening is located inside the blood vessel.

The invention provides a femoral compression device () for compressing a femoral artery of a patient. The femoral compression device () comprises a pressurizing means (), a compression plate () for compressive bearing against a puncture site, a base portion () provided with two opposing extensions (), to the ends of which a belt, which is adapted to be arranged around the patient's body, can be fixed. According to the invention, the pressurizing means is in the form of a spring (), such as a coil spring (), the first end of which is connected to the compression plate () and the second end of which is operatively connected to a handle (), which can be operated to adjusting the compression of the spring ().

Methods and systems related to sealing punctures in blood vessels (such as following an angio or PTCA procedure) are disclosed. The invention provides a system to sense the location of a distal portion of a member within a body. The system includes an introducer portion having a distal end adapted to be placed within a body and a pressure sensor. The pressure sensor is in fluid communication with the distal end and is adapted to provide a pulsation which can be sensed by an operator when the distal end is placed within a pulsating portion of the body.

Technique to confirm correct positioning with respect to arterial wall

A femoral compression device includes a pressure applying device for compressive bearing at a puncture site at a femoral artery of a patient and for applying pressure on the puncture site, a belt adapted to be fixed around the patient's body, and a base plate provided with first and second extensions, with the end of the first extension being closer to the pressure applying device than the end of the second extension and being provided with a fastener in the ends thereof for fastening of an end of the belt. The compression device also includes a support plate, which is attached to the second extension and which is adapted to bear against the patient's body, thereby compensating for the imbalance, which originates from the different extents of the two extensions, that otherwise would be present.

Methods and systems related to sealing punctures in blood vessels (such as following an angio or PTCA procedure) are disclosed. The position of a distal end of an introducer assembly in tissue is determined using a pressure sensor. The pressure sensor is connected to the proximal end of the introducer assembly. The introducer assembly has a fluid path between its distal end and its proximal end. Measured blood pressure is outputted as an indication of the position of the distal end of the introducer assembly in the tissue. Proper positioning of a seal is confirmed by placing the introducer assembly such that its distal end is in tissue outside a puncture in a blood vessel wall and observing a characteristic of blood at the proximal end of the introducer assembly. In both techniques, a waveform of the blood pressure at the distal end of the introducer assembly may be displayed on a display to provide additional information to a surgeon as to the relative position of the components with respect to various tissues.
