Embodiments are directed to using remote pods. An intermediary software is instantiated in a worker node virtual machine and is used to cause a pod virtual machine to be created, the pod virtual machine being remote from the worker node virtual machine. An overlay network is established between the intermediary software in the worker node virtual machine and a pod space in the pod virtual machine. The overlay network is used to cause containers to be created in the pod virtual machine, where the worker node virtual machine is configured to use the overlay network to manage communications with the pod virtual machine.

A method includes: obtaining at least one real-time console log from a compute instance; tagging the at least one real-time console log with at least one log category based on at least one entry within the at least one real-time console log; generating at least one categorized console log; generating at least one encrypted categorized console log based on a public encryption key; publishing the at least one encrypted categorized console log to a log bus; communicating the at least one encrypted categorized console log over at least one multi-port secure tunnel to a user terminal device of a subscribed user; and publishing a private encryption key to the user terminal device of the subscribed user wherein the private encryption key facilitates decrypting the at least one encrypted categorized console log.

Multi-inheritance within a single-inheritance, container-based data processing environment is provided for facilitating developing, storing, shipping and/or running software applications. More particularly, a facility is provided which includes generating, based on a configuration file with a multi-inheritance instruction, a composited image for a new container from multiple exiting images of the single-inheritance container-based environment. The multiple existing images are identified in the multi-inheritance instruction, and the generating includes creating a composited directory file which, in part, references layers of the multiple existing images and associating a command instruction of the configuration file with the composited file. The composited image is then built in associated with starting the new container based on the composited directory file and the associated command.

Facilitating multi-inheritance within a single inheritance container-based environment

Embodiments of the present disclosure can be used to provide version management for a code library. Groups of objects called in a first code library and a second code library can be obtained. The first code library and the second code library are referred to in an application project, and the groups of objects are defined in multiple versions of a base library. Sets of versions of the base library can be determined, where the first group of objects are defined in the first set of versions of the base library, and the second group of objects are defined in the second set of versions of the base library. Based on the versions of the base library, a candidate version of the base library can be identified for being referred to in the application project.

Code library version management

A facility is provided for automatically updating a version of a base image included within an application container of a container-based processing environment. The facility includes providing an application container having an associated configuration file with automatic update specified in connection with a referenced based image. The application container includes an existing version of the referenced base image. Availability of an updated version of the base image with the container-based processing environment is identified, and based on identifying availability of the updated version of the base image, the application container is automatically updated to an updated container, which includes the updated version of the base image.

Facilitating automatic container updating within a container-based environment

According to embodiments of the present disclosure, a method, a device and a computer program product for layer deduplication are provided. The method comprises obtaining a first image generated for a first container, the first image including a plurality of layers associated with the first container. The method further comprises in response to determining that a first layer in the first image is identical to a second layer to be created, creating the second layer by generating a data archive associated with the first layer. In addition, the method comprises generating, based on the created second layer, a second image for a second container.
