An airbag unit for a motor vehicle safety device includes an inflatable airbag formed of flexible material and provided in a rolled and/or folded package. The inflatable airbag is held under compression by a cover extending around at least part of the package. The cover is formed of a molded pulp material and is configured to impart a predetermined stable shape to the unit. A method of packaging an airbag in such a manner is also disclosed.

A vehicle structure arrangement includes a pressurizable reinforcement element that may be arranged interiorly a beam, such as an A-pillar to reinforce the beam. The reinforcement element may be a tubular element having a flexible wall portion, The tubular element may be adapted to be self-stiffened when in a pressurized active state. In the pressurized state, the material and dimension of the tubular element wall portion are adapted to withstand actual stresses along longitudinal direction of the wall portion. The reinforcement element may be activated by a pre-crash unit.

A safety device for use in a motor vehicle includes a restraining element in the form of a net ( ) initially stored within a housing ( ) extending across the entire upper edge of a windscreen ( ). A safety device for a steering wheel unit. The safety device includes a one-piece metal core having: a rim; a plurality of spokes extending from the rim; a hub structure being disposed such that the spokes extend from the rim to the hub structure; and a mounting structure disposed adjacent the hub structure. The safety device further includes an air-bag assembly having: a gas generator directly connected to the mounting structure; an air-bag adapted to be in gas communication with the gas generator and being directly connected to the mounting structure; and an air-bag cover adapted to cover the air-bag and being directly connected to the mounting structure.

A cover for an air-bag installation includes two superimposed layers of polymer material, each layer carrying complementary flanges or fingers, the flanges or fingers of the layers being inter-digitated, leaving no air space between the flanges or fingers.

A device for transferring a signal between two end points between which a coiled conductor, contained in a substantially circular cassette, is arranged. At least one of the two end points is movable relative to the other. The cassette consists of two parts, a stationary stator (11) and a turnable rotor (12). On the stator (11) there is arranged a holding element which is under spring force and has a free end which is fixed in the assembled position of the cassette in tensioned state on the rotor (12). The holding element is detachable from the rotor (12) by rotation of the latter, so that, in the operating position of the cassette, it protrudes, in released position, through a space of the cassette, separated from the latter.
