Apparatus for maintaining extracorporeal organs in viable state during transportion and storage comprises a readily manually transportable insulated enclosure including separable cover and base portions, a perfusate reservoir in the enclosure, thermoelectric means in the base portion for cooling the reservoir and interior of the enclosure, means in the enclosure for supporting an organ for perfusing, means in the enclosure for directing perfusate expelled from the organ to the perfusate reservoir, a perfusate pump on the base portion for connection between the reservoir and an organ supported within the enclosure, and control means for varying the operation of the pump and thermoelectric means to maintain the temperature and flow of the perfusate being pumped within predetermined limits.

Kidney preservation machine

A small, light-weight direct drive servovalve includes a force motor with a stationary magnet structure and a moving coil with the moving coil coupled to a valve spool by means of a lever mechanism which is pivotally mounted on a pivot hub and which amplifies the actuating force exerted on the valve spool. The moving coil is suspended from the pivot hub by dual convoluted spring diaphragms and through the lever mechanism imparts a linear, reciprocating movement to the valve spool. A tandem valve spool and sleeve assembly is employed and provides for two separated hydraulic systems in a common housing. A fuel metering system for a gas turbine engine utilizing such a direct drive servovalve is provided.

Direct drive servovalve and fuel control system incorporating same

A linear variable phase transformer position to phase transducer produces a linear phase change in an output signal with respect to displacement. Moreover, the magnitude of such output signal remains relatively constant while such displacement occurs. The transducer includes two primaries which are specially wound according to sine and cosine functions and are excited out of phase, a secondary, and a core that combines the primary signals and induces the output signal in the secondary according to the core position relative to the primaries.

Plural servo actuators are coupled to provide a redundant system for operating a common output device. Each servo actuator has plural servo valves each having one active output that causes controlled opposite operation of the output device and one passive output. A fault detector coupled to each servo actuator compares the sum of the passive output pressures with the pressures of two other fluid signals, in one case the supply and return fluid signals and in another case the two active output signals of the servo valves, to detect the condition thereof. A convenient checkout system and a fluid by-pass mechanism also are provided in the fault detector.

Redundant EHV fault detector

A linear variable phase transformer directly converts displacement to phase information. In one form the relationship of such displacement and such phase information is substantially linear or directly proportional. Moreover, a circuit is provided for directly converting such phase information to digital information which is preferably provided in a binary format.

Transducer for directly converting mechanical displacement to phase

A servoactuator for stopping a ram in its existing position or retracting the ram at a fixed rate to a locked position.
