A bootstrapped sampling switch may be used at lower supply voltages due to its high linearity, wherein the sampled voltage may be substantially higher than the supply voltage. A 2.7 volt or lower DC supply may be used with this sampling switch to sample a much higher voltage. A plurality of these high voltage transmission gate switches may be connected directly together, thereby removing a primary source of channel-to-channel mismatch (the active buffer/voltage reduction circuit) and enables new methods of error compensation not previously possible. The sampling switch circuit does not consume DC current from what is being measured. There may be a small switched capacitor voltage charge and there may be some voltage leakage, but no DC current is drawn from the voltage input being measured.

High voltage bootstrap sampling circuit

A signal to be transmitted is modified. An ultra wideband (UWB) signal to be transmitted is obtained, the UWB signal having a data carrying sub-band and a non data carrying sub-band. Information in the non data carrying sub-band is modified so that the power associated with the non data carrying sub-band is less than the power prior to the modification. Information in the data carrying sub-band is modified so that the power associated with the data carrying sub-band is greater than the power prior to the modification. The amount by which the data carrying sub-band increases in power is based at least in part on the amount by which the non data carrying sub-band decreases in power. A UWB signal is transmitted having the modified information in the non data carrying sub-band and the modified information in the data carrying sub-band.

Increasing OFDM transmit power via reduction in pilot tone

A configurable Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) device comprises a first transform stage configured to generate a first stage output having a first length, a second transform stage configured to operate in conjunction with the first transform stage and to generate a second stage output having a second length, and a switching network configured to selectively connect the second transform stage with the first transform stage to select the first stage output or the second stage output. A method of configuring an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) device comprises determining an appropriate OFDM mode, based on the OFDM mode determined, selectively connecting a first transform stage of the device with a second transform stage of the device, wherein the first transform stage has a first stage output and the second transform stage has a second stage output, and selecting the first stage output or the second stage output.

Configurable OFDM transceiver

A method of processing a received OFDM symbol is disclosed. The received OFDM symbol has a symbol portion and a zero suffix portion. An information bearing portion of the zero suffix portion that is likely to contain information is determined and is combined with the symbol portion.

Dynamic zero suffix addition

A method for reference signal generating in an ultra wideband (UWB) communication system which sends out and receives data by using at least two reference signals of predetermined frequencies. A first signal group, which comprises a local oscillation (LO) signal and a signal at a predetermined phase difference with respect to the LO signal, is generated. One among at least two intermediate frequency (IF) signals is selected for the adjustment of the frequency of the LO signals, and a second signal group, which comprises the selected IF signal and a signal at a predetermined phase difference with respect to the selected IF signal, is generated. Two mixed signals are generated from the first and the second signal groups, the mixed signals being mixed without overlap, and a reference signal is generated by adding the two generated signals.

Wideband quadrature generation technique requiring only narrowband components and method thereof

Transmitting an ultra wideband (UWB) signal in some embodiments comprises reducing power within a first sub-band with respect to a nominal power of the UWB signal within the first sub-band and correspondingly increasing power within a second sub-band with respect to a nominal power of the UWB signal within the second sub-band. An ultra wideband (UWB) transmitter comprises an input interface configured to receive data, a modulator configured to modulate received data into symbols and a power shaping component coupled to the modulator, configured to shape power density spectrum of a UWB signal being transmitted. Transmitting an ultra wideband (UWB) signal in some embodiments comprises determining whether to power shape the UWB signal; in the event that it is determined that the UWB signal is to be power shaped, reducing power within a first sub-band with respect to the nominal power of the UWB signal within the first sub-band; and correspondingly increasing power within a second sub-band with respect to the nominal power of the UWB signal within the second sub-band such that bandwidth of the UWB signal is maintained to be greater than or equal to a required bandwidth.

An apparatus and method for generating an intermediate frequency (IF) to be transferred to a single sideband (SSB) generator which generates carriers using one local oscillator (LO) signal and at least two IF signals that are received. A group signal is generated which includes a non-phase-shifted signal and a phase-shifted signal to a predetermined value with respect to each IF. One of the group signals is selected and transferred to the SSB generator. Accordingly, the SSB generator performs the phase shift on the LO signal alone.
