Provided is a communication system for ultra wide band impulse communication, and more particularly, to a communication apparatus and method that can be used in a sensor network or a low-rate wireless personal area network. To be more specific, the present research suggests a transmitter employing multi-coded bi-orthogonal pulse position modulation/demodulation and a method thereof. The transmitter of the present research provides: a serial-to-parallel converter for convening L-bit serial data to be transmitted into parallel data by performing grouping on the L-bit serial data; a multi-coder for generating a multi-coded symbol by multiplying the parallel data by total L orthogonal codes of length N; a bi-orthogonal pulse position modulator for positioning the multi-coded symbol in a predetermined pulse period and performing biorthogonal pulse position modulation; and a pulse generator for multiplying an output signal of the bi-orthogonal pulse position modulator by a predetermined pulse and outputting an output signal.

Apparatus and method for ultra wide band communication based on multi-coded bi-orthogonal pulse position modulation

Provided is a radio communication system for ultra wideband (UWB) impulse communications and a radio communication apparatus and method thereof. The present patent provides a radio communication system that can minimize power consumption by eliminating a need for carrier detection and sharing transmission/reception time information in UWB impulse communications. The system includes a network coordinator; and one or more devices communicating on a superframe basis in subordination to the network coordinator. The devices perform data transmission/reception in predetermined time slots and then they are inactivated to thereby reduce power consumption.

Radio communication system, radio communication apparatus and radio communication method for UWB impulse communication

This invention is concerned with a transmission control method and apparatus in a collision interval for a collision of multidimensional hopping patterns. In the present invention, each orthogonal wireless resource in the coordinate of the multidimensional orthogonal resource can hop according to the hopping pattern negotiated between a transmitter and a receiver, and each corresponding channel is distinguished by the hopping pattern. A specific multidimensional hopping pattern is allocated to each secondary station. The hopping pattern is either permanently allocated to the secondary stations or temporarily allocated from the primary station during a call set-up. The permanent allocation of the hopping pattern to the secondary stations is achieved when the hopping pattern is identified based on a unique identifier, such as ESN of the secondary station. The hopping patterns of the secondary stations are mutually independent so that the coordinates of the same orthogonal resource is allocated to different secondary stations in a simultaneous manner in a specific moment. Through this invention, in order to improve the performance of the multidimensional resource hopping multiplexing system, refining transmission and perforation mechanisms for the collisions of multidimensional resource hopping patterns can reduce the overall perforation probability.

Disclosed is a configuration method and device for a two-dimensional expandable crossbar matrix switch for application to tera-level high-speed and large-capacity switches. The present invention includes N input ports, N output ports, and an N&#xd7;N matrix switch for transmitting cells between the input and output ports. Each input port includes N VOQs which are sequentially combined by n VOQs to configure respective L VOQ groups. The L VOQ groups are connected to L XSUs through independent interface ports. Therefore, each input port can transmit a maximum of L cells to the matrix switch during one cell time slot.

Scalable crossbar matrix switch and arbitration method thereof

A method and system for statistically multiplexing corresponding channels using an orthogonal code hopping in a wire/wireless communication system, including a first communication station and multiple second communication stations, in which multiple synchronized communication channels coexist through one media. The system includes an orthogonal code hopping pattern generator, a spreader for selecting a corresponding orthogonal code symbol in the orthogonal code, a collision comparator and controller for monitoring whether the orthogonal code symbols collide and for determining whether the send data symbols to the second communication stations coincide in the collision area, a unit for stopping transmission in case of collision of the hopping patterns and discordance of the transmission data symbols, and a transmission power controller for compensating an average receiving energy loss.

Method and apparatus for orthogonal code hopping multiplexing communications

The present invention is related to a statistical multiplexing method and apparatus using a multi-dimensional orthogonal resource hopping multiplexing method in a wired/wireless communication systems where a plurality of communication channels, which are synchronized through a single medium, coexist. The present invention, in order to implement a generalized statistical multiplexing communication system using a multi-dimensional orthogonal resource hopping multiplexing method, comprises a multi-dimensional hopping pattern generator which is located in the primary communication station, a data symbol modulator that modulates data symbols based on the corresponding orthogonal resource hopping pattern generated by said multi-dimensional hopping pattern generator, a collision detector and controller that detects whether a collision occurs or not between the multi-dimensional hopping patterns and compares the consistency of the data symbols toward the secondary communication stations between said collision interval, a transmission power controller that controls the transmission power of the remaining parts excluding the parts where the multi-dimensional hopping patterns collide and the transmission is stopped due to transmitting data symbol inconsistency and compensates for the loss in the average reception energy due to a transmission stoppage.

Multi-dimensional orthogonal resource hopping multiplexing communications method and apparatus

An idle address controller for a shared buffer type ATM switch controls the addresses of output cells in a common memory to be stored directly in an idle address buffer without passing through the conventional idle address delay controller, by improving the idle address control scheme of a unit switch. The idle address controller includes an idle address control signal generator for generating idle address control signals based on the buffer length information from counters, idle address control signal buffers for storing the idle address control signals, and an idle address control signal multiplexer. Therefore, the idle addresses can be efficiently provided, and this mechanism lowers cell loss and reduces required memory capacity.
