An embodiment provides a method for digesting at least one analyte of an aqueous sample, including: introducing an aqueous sample comprising at least one analyte into a digestion device comprising one or more carbon substituted material electrodes; digesting the at least one analyte by applying an electrical potential between an anode and a cathode of the digestion device, wherein the digesting comprises a step-wise disintegration; measuring the at least one analyte of the aqueous sample from the digested material, using a measurement device selected from the group consisting of: an electrochemical device and an optical measurement device; and modifying the electrical potential based upon the measurement of the at least one analyte. Electrochemical digestion

An embodiment provides a method for stirring a sample in a cell, including: providing a cell comprising a sample chamber; placing a boron-doped diamond electrode on an inner surface of the sample chamber, placing a removable stir bar in the sample chamber, the removable stir bar directly contacting and touching the boron-doped diamond electrode; and wherein the stir bar can be operated to rotate within the sample chamber upon the boron-doped diamond electrode. Electrochemical cell stirring

An embodiment provides a method for deriving an amount of PFAS substances from a total organic fluoride measurement in a sample, including: removing inorganic fluoride from the sample using one or more of an ion exchange cartridge and an exclusion apparatus; preconcentrating, using a solid phase extraction, at least one PFAS substance in the sample; digesting, using a working electrode and a counter electrode, the at least one PFAS substance to an amount of total organic fluoride; and determining, using an analyzer, the amount of total organic fluoride in the sample. An embodiment provides a method for transferring information from at least one instrument to an application, including: establishing a central protocol structure, wherein the central protocol structure defines a format for information transmitted utilizing the central protocol structure; transmitting over a short-range wireless communication channel information from the at least one device to the application, wherein the information is formatted in a broadcast packet in view of the central protocol structure; receiving, at the application, information from the at least one device; and performing, within the application, an action with respect to the information within the application, wherein the performing comprises deciphering the information contained in view of the central protocol structure.

Dynamic wireless information transmission

An embodiment provides a method for determining the alkalinity of an aqueous sample using an alkalinity sensor, including: monitoring the pH of an aqueous sample using a pH sensor in a sample cell, the pH sensor including a pH sensor electrode made of boron-doped diamond; generating hydronium ions, using a hydronium generator, in the aqueous sample in the sample cell, the hydronium generator including a hydronium-generating electrode; changing the pH of the aqueous sample by causing the hydronium generator to generate an amount of hydronium ions in the aqueous sample; quantifying and converting a current or charge to the number of hydronium ions produced to an end point of the electrochemical titration, the end point correlating to the alkalinity of a sample; and analyzing the alkalinity of the aqueous sample based on the generated amount of hydronium ions and the resulting change in pH monitored by the pH sensor.

Alkalinity sensor

A process analysis system includes sensors and a processing system. The sensors monitor the process to generate sensor signals. The processing system processes the sensor signals to detect a deviation from a baseline for the process. The processing system generates a process vector for the deviation in response to detecting the deviation. The processing system compares the process vector to a plurality of library vectors to classify the deviation. In some examples, the process comprises a system that supplies water.

Classification of deviations in a process

A method for removing sulfide from a liquid sample such as water in a test for arsenic. The method involves adding a strong oxidizing agent to the sample to oxidize the sulfide to sulfate, and then adding an organic amine to the sample to react with any remaining oxidizing agent.

Method for the removal of sulfide interference in common tests for arsenic

An improved test is described for chlorine in pool and spa water where potassium monopersulfate is used as an oxidizing agent and DPD is used as an indicator. N,N-bis(hydroxyethyl)-2-aminoethane sulfonic acid or bicine is used to mask or eliminate the potassium monopersulfate so that it does not interfere with the DPD indicator. The test is very reliable and accurate.
