Systems and methods for controlling a generator set are disclosed herein. The method includes determining a state of local modes selectable via a local interface proximate to the generator set. The local modes include a local standby mode and a local remote enabled mode. The method also includes determining a state of a plurality of remote modes using a command from a device remote from the location of the generator set in response to determining the remote enabled mode is active. The method includes, in response to determining the local standby mode is active, the remote enabled mode is active, and one of the remote modes is active, determining whether to activate or stop the generator set based on the active remote mode and disabling the local standby mode from controlling activation of the generator set.

Methods and systems for exercising a genset are disclosed herein. The method includes detecting whether the genset is in a first mode or a second mode, and activating a plurality of exercise cycles of the genset. Activating the plurality of exercise cycles comprises, in response to detecting the genset is in the first mode, ignite fuel to activate the genset during each of the plurality of exercise cycles of the genset; and in response to detecting the genset is in the second mode, cranking the genset without igniting fuel during at least a first subset of the plurality of exercise cycles.

This document discusses, among other things, systems, devices, and methods of disabling an automatic generator starting (AGS) actuator, such as used with a fuel-powered AC power generator providing AC electrical power to a recreational vehicle (RV) or other vehicle. The AGS actuator is disabled in response to a fault condition, such as may be indicative of a risk of hazardous gas, such as carbon monoxide (CO) accumulating near the vehicle, potentially in an enclosed area. After such disabling is performed, the vehicle driver would then have to consciously re-engage the AGS actuator. Factors useful for determining whether the fault condition exist include, among other things, transmission position, wheel rotation, vehicle engine operation status, ignition status, and/or an exhaust gas sensor.

A recreational vehicle includes a chassis having a living space, an electrical system for providing electrical power to the living space, an air conditioner for cooling the living space, a heater for heating the living space, and a plurality of appliances within the living space attached to the electrical system. The recreational vehicle also includes an engine for moving the recreational vehicle, a motor generator for supplying power to the recreational vehicle, a connector for connecting the electrical system of the recreational vehicle to an external power source, and a local area network system electrically connected to the air conditioner, the heater, the plurality of appliances, and the motor generator. The local area network manages the power provided to the to the electrical appliances. A display positioned within the living space shows data related to the air conditioner, the heater, the plurality of appliances, the motor generator and the engine.
