A communication terminal includes first and second antennas for respectively communicating with first and second remote terminals and a single up-converter that is arranged to up-convert an input signal to produce an RF transmit signal. The communication terminal further includes a switching circuit, which is arranged to couple the single up-converter to the first antenna in order to transmit the RF transmit signal to the first remote terminal during first time intervals, and to couple the single up-converter to the second antenna in order to transmit the RF transmit signal to the second remote terminal during second time intervals, which do not overlap the first time intervals.

A method for antenna alignment includes defining a first link budget for wireless communication between first and second communication systems via respective first and second antennas in a normal operational mode in which a main lobe of the first antenna points toward the second antenna. The first antenna is aligned to point to the second antenna responsively to an alignment indication provided by communicating between the first and second communication systems in an alignment operational mode having a second link budget greater than the first link budget.

A receiver includes an input circuit, which is coupled to at least one antenna so as to receive, process and digitize first and second signals, thus generating first and second streams of input samples. An interference cancellation circuit includes first and second processing chains, which are reaspectively coupled to filter the first and second streams of input samples using respective first and second adaptive coefficients to generate respective first and second filter outputs, at least one of the first and second processing chains being further adapted to apply a variable phase shift so as to compensate for a phase deviation between the first and second signals. An adder sums the first and second filter outputs so as to generate a third stream of output samples, which is representative of the first signal. A coefficient controller is operative to set the first and second adaptive coefficients and to separately set the variable phase shift responsively to the output samples.

The fundamental frequency of EIG events is determined directly, without first detecting the events themselves. Use is made of an analysis window containing more than one event (3&#x2013;5). Techniques (1&#x2013;8) are utilized which are somewhat similar to those utilized to detect, and estimate pitch in speech processing. The invention is based on two important biological discoveries. The first is that the EIG is generated by a functional pace maker. The second is that the EIG signal is quasi-periodic most of the time. The use of pitch detection algorithms is based on the essentially quasi-periodic nature of the EIG signal. Quasi-periodic means that the intervals between successive events are not exactly identical, but may vary slightly, that the amplitude and shape of successive events may also exhibit some variance.
