A method for operating an accessory device to guide the placement of an ostomy appliance on a user having a stoma. The method can include capturing an image or a sequence of images of the user applying the ostomy appliance to the user's body, processing the captured image or sequence of images, including: identifying a location of the stoma in one or more of the captured image or sequence of images, identifying a location of the ostomy appliance in one or more of the captured image or sequence of images, and generating location indicia representative of the location of the ostomy appliance with respect to the stoma in one or more of the captured image or sequence of images. A visual display including the location indicia associated with one or more of the captured image or sequence of images can be provided.

Tools and methods for placing an ostomy appliance on a user

The present disclosure provides a method, performed in an accessory device, for communicating a leakage state of an ostomy appliance, wherein the accessory device comprises an interface configured to communicate with one or more devices of an ostomy system, the one or more devices comprising a monitor device, and/or the ostomy appliance configured to be placed on a skin surface of a user. The method comprises obtaining monitor data from the one or more devices, the monitor data being indicative of presence of fluid at a proximal side of a first adhesive layer of the ostomy appliance towards the skin surface; determining a leakage state at the proximal side of the first adhesive layer of the ostomy appliance based on the monitor data, and communicating the leakage state of the ostomy appliance via the interface.

An accessory device includes an interface configured to communicate with one or more devices of an ostomy system and including a display. The ostomy system includes a monitor device and/or an ostomy appliance that is configured to be placed on a skin surface of a user. The ostomy appliance includes a base plate. A method performed in an accessory device includes obtaining monitor data from the monitor device that is indicative of presence of fluid at a proximal side of a first adhesive layer of the base plate towards the skin surface; determining an issue based on the monitor data that is related to the ostomy appliance; identifying, based on the determined issue, a set of candidate actions; selecting a set of digital content based on the set of candidate actions; and displaying the set of digital content on the display.

The present disclosure provides a method, performed in an accessory device, for communicating the operating state of the ostomy appliance, which in turn enables a monitoring of the ostomy appliance at the accessory device. The accessory device comprises an interface configured to communicate with one or more devices of an ostomy system. The one or more devices comprise a monitor device, and/or an ostomy appliance configured to be placed on a skin surface of a user or on any additional seals. A method is disclosed performed by an accessory device in connection with an ostomy appliance configured to be placed on a user having a stoma. The method includes capturing one or more images of the user's stoma, processing the images, including: identifying the stoma; and generating indicia representative of a cutting line for the ostomy appliance as a function of the identified stoma, wherein the cutting line defines a hole to be formed on the ostomy appliance. The method further includes providing a visual display including: an appliance representation; and the indicia on the appliance representation.

A method for operating an accessory device to capture calibration data. The method can include capturing an image of a portion of a user's body that includes the user's stoma and at least two reference locations, and storing distance scale information representative of a distance between the two reference locations. The method further includes processing the captured image, including: identifying the reference locations, identifying the stoma, and generating calibration data representative of one or more stoma parameters as a function of the identified reference locations, identified stoma and the distance scale information. The calibration data can be stored.
