The invention provides devices that improve tests for detecting specific cellular, viral, and molecular targets in clinical, industrial, or environmental samples. The invention permits efficient detection of individual microscopic targets at low magnification for highly sensitive testing. The invention does not require washing steps and thus allows sensitive and specific detection while simplifying manual operation and lowering costs and complexity in automated operation. In short, the invention provides devices that can deliver rapid, accurate, and quantitative, easy-to-use, and cost-effective tests.

Kits and devices for detecting analytes

A painting kit includes one or more paint pads and a paint tray. The paint tray includes a reservoir for holding a supply of paint, and means for transferring paint to a paint pad. In one embodiment the paint tray includes a rotating cylinder to transfer paint from the paint reservoir to one or more paint pads. In another embodiment, one or more paint pedestal surfaces are coated with paint from the reservoir in order to transfer paint to paint pads. Each of the paint pads and the trays includes features to selectively apply paint to the paint pad and to avoid applying paint to selected longitudinal edges of the paint pad. The lack of paint along the longitudinal edges helps to prevent paint from dripping or being forced from the longitudinal edge onto adjacent dry surfaces, and thereby enables a user to paint uniformly near edges while avoiding adjacent areas.

A lawn waste collection system is designed to be removably coupled to a side-discharge, riding lawn mower in order to assist in the collection of leaves, The collection system includes an oversized collection bag for retaining a large quantity of lawn waste, an adapter kit for connecting the collection bag to the mower, and a shield coupled to the mower for supporting and protecting the collection bag. The adapter kit includes a multi-sectioned chute, which establishes a discharge communication path between the mower and the collection bag, and a frame for retaining the chute, collection bag, and shield. As a feature of the invention, the chute includes a primary section comprising a flexible outer layer, which universally connects to a wide variety of mower blade decks over the discharge exit port, and an initially planar, rigid inner layer affixed to the outer layer to provide structural reinforcement,

System for collecting lawn waste

An analyte test device is constructed as an integrated, single-use, disposable cartridge which can be releasably installed into a compatible analyte test monitor. In use, the device can be used in conjunction with the monitor to lance the skin of a patient to create a blood sample and, in turn, calculate the concentration of a particular analyte in the expressed blood sample. In one embodiment, the device includes a base and a cover which are affixed together to create a test cartridge which has a substantially flat and low profile design. A lancet carrier is disposed between the base and the cover and includes a anchor fixedly mounted on the base and a lancet support member which is slidably mounted on the base, the anchor and the lancet support member being connected by a spring. A lancet is removably mounted on the lancet support member is disposed directly beneath an analyte test strip which secured to the underside of the cover. In another embodiment, the device includes a cylindrical housing with an open top end and an open bottom end. A spring biased lancet is slidably mounted within the cylindrical housing. An analyte test strip is fixedly mounted within the cylindrical housing and is disposed at an acute angle relative to the lancet.

Analyte test device

A paint roller tray () includes a pivoting bail handle () attached thereto. The bail handle () is horizontally disposed in a default position while the tray () is being used for painting. The handle pivots with respect to the tray () to move a handle portion upward for easy one hand grasping by a user. The bail handle includes foot extensions () and () that extend outboard of the tray () that a user can step on to pivot the bail handle () to a lift position for easier grasping. The tray () includes a paint brush rest surface () and one or more brush handle holders () and () to secure the brush handle and prevent the brush from falling as the tray is moved. The tray () further includes elements (-) for cantilevering the tray from the rung of a step ladder and is configured for nesting one tray inside another.

An embodiment of a device for expressing blood from a wound site formed in dermal tissue is constructed in the shape of a cap removably mounted onto a lancing instrument. The blood expression device includes an annular support member and a plurality of movable fingers integrally formed onto the support member in a spaced apart relationship, the free ends of the plurality of fingers together defining a generally circular opening. Each finger is adapted for pivotal displacement in such a manner that its free end projects into the circular opening. In use, the free ends of the plurality of fingers are disposed in contact against the dermal tissue immediately surrounding the wound site. As the device is urged downward onto the dermal tissue, the free ends of the plurality of fingers collapse inward from the force of an axially movable sleeve and pinch into the dermal tissue, resulting in the expression of blood.

Blood expression device

A device for expressing blood from a wound site formed in dermal tissue is constructed, in one embodiment, in the shape of a cap which can be removably mounted onto a lancing instrument. The blood expression device includes an annular support member and a plurality of movable fingers integrally formed onto the support member in a spaced apart relationship, the free ends of the plurality of fingers together defining a generally circular opening. Each finger is adapted for pivotal displacement in such a manner that its free end projects into the circular opening. In use, the free ends of the plurality of fingers are disposed in contact against the dermal tissue immediately surrounding the wound site. As the device is urged downward onto the dermal tissue, the free ends of the plurality of fingers collapse inward and pinch into the dermal tissue so as to create a uniform ring of pressure around the wound site which, in turn, results in the expression of blood.

A detachable handle for securely holding and lifting a container, such as a paint can which has a lid-receiving channel at the top of the container, is formed as an integral unit of injection molded compliant material. It includes a grip, an upper heel contacting the container inside wall at an upper position, and a lower heel contacting the container outside wall at a lower position. The handle also includes a lift point contacting the lid-receiving channel underside, and a middle arm contacting the top of the lid-receiving channel above the lift point, providing vertical stability, and allows the user to hold or lift the container without risk of tipping or spilling. The handle is easily applied or removed by contacting the lower heel against the outside wall and rotating the handle into place.

Leaf and grass catching bag for riding mowers

A grass and leaf catcher for use with a riding mower in the form of a large bag of flexible material, having a generally conical shape. The bag has an opening around its first end, and another at the second end. The opening at the first end is generally circular, with a drawstring to facilitate attachment around the discharge tube and hood of the mower. A cleat in proximity to the opening allows for securing the drawstring. The opening at the second end is likewise secured by a drawstring and cleat combination, or by a hook-and-loop fastener. A mesh area in the surface of the bag relieves the pressure within the bag caused by the entry of air forced up the discharge tube by the action of the cutter blades of the mower.

Disclosed herein is a wall bracket construction for suspending articles therefrom and which bracket construction is adapted for mounting, without the aid of fasteners, to wall moldings of differing thicknesses.
