Solid microcapsules are prepared by adding, with stirring, a composition having at least one active ingredient to a photocrosslinkable polymeric composition to obtain an emulsion, and adding the emulsion, with stirring, to a viscous composition. A double emulsion is obtained, to which shear is applied at a rate less than 1000 s, to obtain a sheared emulsion. Polymerization of the sheared emulsion is accomplished by photopolymerization.

Loading the second emulsion in a mixer which applies a homogeneous controlled shear rate to said second emulsion, said shear rate being from 1 000 s-1 to 100 000 s-1, to obtain a third emulsion comprising droplets dispersed in composition C3, and cross-linking the droplets so that solid microcapsules dispersed in composition C3 are obtained.

A composition to cover a metal surface comprises an organic continuous phase comprising at least one anticorrosive pigment, and a hydrophilic phase dispersed in the organic continuous phase, the hydrophilic phase comprising a chemical agent for the surface treatment of the metal surface. The surface treatment chemical agent can advantageously be cerium nitrate. A process for the manufacture of a composition according to the present invention is provided.
