This disclosure relates to a composite textile that can be sustainable, as well as methods and systems for constructing the composite textile and recollecting and harvesting excess material (e.g., remnants). In at least some examples, a first pattern piece is cut from a first material layer, and a second pattern piece is cut from a second material layer. In addition, the first pattern piece can be separated from the first material layer, which can leave a first remnant, and the second pattern piece can be separated from the second material layer, which can leave a second remnant. Once separated, the first pattern piece can be stacked atop the second pattern piece, and the stacked pattern pieces can be entangled to form a composite pattern piece. The remnant associated with the first material layer can be separated from the remnant associated with the second material layer and reused.

Methods and systems for manufacturing a composite textile

Electromagnetic radiation is applied (e.g., by a laser) to a nonwoven textile comprising first fibers having a first propensity to absorb the electromagnetic radiation and second fibers having a second propensity to absorb the electromagnetic radiation that is lower than the first propensity. The electromagnetic radiation may be used to form discrete bonding structures within the volume of the nonwoven textile, wherein the bonding structures are generally absent from the faces of the nonwoven textile.

Aspects herein are directed to a composite nonwoven textile that includes non-linear entangled seams and method and systems for producing the same. The composite nonwoven textile includes at least a first nonwoven layer, a second layer, and a fill material positioned between the first nonwoven layer and the second layer. When the composite nonwoven textile is formed into a garment, the regions between the non-linear entangled seams may help store and retain heat to provide insulation, and the non-linear entangled seams may help prevent shifting or drift of the fill material.

Aspects herein are directed to a recyclable, asymmetrical-faced composite nonwoven textile suitable for use in apparel and other articles and methods of making the same. In example aspects, the asymmetrical-faced composite nonwoven textile includes a first face formed, at least in part from a first entangled web of fibers and an opposite second face formed, at least in part from a second entangled web of fibers. When incorporated into an article of apparel, the first face forms an outer-facing surface of the article of apparel, and the second face forms an inner-facing surface of the article of apparel. The first face includes features making it suitable to form the outer-facing surface such as resistance to abrasion, and the second face includes features making it suitable to form an inner-facing surface such as a soft hand.

Aspects herein are directed to a textile, and garments produced from the textile, having one or more insulation zones and one or more pile zones where the pile zones seamlessly extend from the insulation zones. The textile includes a first woven layer, a second woven layer, and a nonwoven layer positioned between the first and second woven layers. In the insulation zone, the first woven layer, the second woven layer, and the nonwoven layer are unaffixed from each other. In the pile zone, fibers/filaments from the nonwoven layer are entangled with fibers, filaments and yarns from each of the first woven layer and the second woven layer.
