A relay reset assembly for use with a relay including first and second support members and a bi-stable armature forming an armature bearing surface and carried by the first support member for pivotal movement between first and second stable positions when force is applied to the armature bearing surface, the assembly for resetting the armature in the first position after the armature is tripped into the second position, the assembly comprising an operator forming an operator bearing surface and carried by one of the first and second support members for movement between an activated position and a deactivated position and a push arm forming first and second arm bearing surfaces, the push arm carried by the second support member and juxtaposed such that each of the first and second arm bearing surfaces is proximate one or the other of the operator and armature bearing surfaces wherein, one of the first and second arm bearing surfaces engages one of the operator and armature bearing surfaces and the other of the first and second arm bearing surfaces engages the other of the operator and armature bearing surfaces when the armature is in the second position and the operator is moved from the deactivated position toward the activated position thereby applying force to the armature bearing surface, the one of the first and second arm bearing surfaces disengaging the proximate one of the operator and armature bearing surfaces when the armature has moved to the first position.

Bi-stable trip-free relay configuration

A technique is provided for controlling an operator in a circuit such as a relay circuit. The operator may be a coil in an electromagnetic relay. The coil is energized only when current through a leakage current suppression circuit is sufficient to exceed a predetermined threshold. The leakage current suppression circuit is operative to prevent energization of the operator, or to deenergize the operator, when the current is below the threshold, within a range anticipated for leakage current through the circuit.

A method and assembly for use with a printed circuit board (PCB), the assembly comprising a relay assembly including a relay housing and a trip free reset assembly mounted within the housing and linked to other relay components mounted within the housing for manually resetting the relay after the relay is tripped and at least one pin linked to at least one of the relay components and including a distal end extending from the housing and suitable for direct connection to the PCB.

Trip-free PCB mountable relay configuration and method

A modular overload relay provides a low cost analog base unit performing overload detection functions and one or more add-on units communicating with the base unit through an electric conductor on a side of the base unit to which the add-on module may be attached. The add-on units augment the circuitry of the base unit through additional analog or microprocessor-based circuitry communicating with various points within the analog circuitry of the base unit.
