A lighting relay panel may include lower-cost features or components related to improved safety and reliability. In some cases, the relay panel includes a power supply capable of protecting the panel from high-voltage and high-current transients. A microcontroller may determine a power interruption based on a zero-cross signal received from the power supply, and may also configure latching relays during the interruption. In some implementations, the relay panel includes a relay sense circuit that is capable of receiving actuation signals from multiple relays connected to different phases of a power signal, and the microcontroller may synchronize or repeat the actuations based on a signal from the relay sense circuit. The microcontroller may generate relay addresses based on the relay positions within the relay panel. In some cases, the relay panel may include isolation circuits that are capable of providing an isolated control signal having an improved voltage range.

Lighting relay panel features for improved safety and reliability

A system for providing power from an AC power supply to an external load. The system includes a current limiter circuit, connected to an input of a switched-mode power supply. The system includes the switched-mode power supply that provides a first voltage signal and a second voltage signal. The system includes a supervisor circuit that is connected to the first output of the switched-mode power supply and coupled to a relay control circuit. The supervisor circuit monitors the first voltage signal and enables the relay control circuit. The relay control circuit provides a first voltage corresponding to the first voltage signal to a first voltage rail and provides a second voltage corresponding to the second voltage signal to a second voltage rail. A relay powered by a connection to the first voltage rail or the second voltage rail connects the AC power supply to an external load.

Inrush current limiting power supply

An intelligent lighting system may be installed using pre-existing electrical wiring, such as in a construction or retrofit environment. An intelligent lighting controller and an intelligent lighting fixture may be connected via electrical wiring that is configured for transmitting AC power signals. A commissioning signal may be transmitted to the intelligent lighting fixtures via the electrical wiring. In some cases, the intelligent lighting controller modifies portions of the AC power signal to indicate the commissioning signal. The intelligent lighting fixtures may receive the commissioning signal via the electrical wiring. In some cases, each intelligent lighting fixture that is connected to the electrical wiring, such as each intelligent lighting fixture on a lighting circuit in a room, receives the commissioning signal.

Lighting fixture commissioning based on powerline signaling techniques

A transceiver in a lighting system may include a digital isolation component having multiple channels and an isolation barrier. The digital isolation component may accept an outbound digital signal or an inbound digital signal. On a first channel, the outbound signal may be modulated with a high-frequency signal, and provided across the isolation barrier to the non-isolated side. On the non-isolated side, a modified outbound signal may be generated based on the modulated high-frequency signal. On a second channel, the inbound signal may be modulated with a high-frequency signal that is provided across the isolation barrier to the isolated side. On the isolated side, a modified inbound signal may be generated based on the modulated high-frequency signal. The transceiver may include a voltage level comparator configured to adjust voltage levels of the signals, or an edge transition or duty cycle balancer configured to adjust edges of the signals.

Isolation of digital signals in a lighting control transceiver

A lighting control system allows user control of the color features of controllable light fixtures. Controlled color features may include the color, color temperature, tint, or other qualities related to the color of the light. Control of the color features may be independent from control of the intensity of the light fixtures. The system may use light-emitting diode (LED) light fixtures, or fluorescent or incandescent light fixtures. The system may enable control of the color feature using a controllable driver/ballast and a dimmer control. The color feature may be adjusted along a color path of adjacent values in a suitable color space model.

Lighting control system for independent adjustment of color and intensity

In some aspects, a relay control device includes a processor and a timer. The processor is electrically connectable to a relay that controls current flow to a load device. The processor causes the relay to be actuated at a first point in time so that a current flows to the load device. The processor determines an actuation duration for the relay from a measurement of the load current that is obtained with a current sense component. The processor determines a frequency of an input voltage or current from the measured load current. The processor synchronizes the timer with this frequency and identifies a zero-crossing point for a second load current based on the synchronized timer. The processor subsequently causes the relay to be actuated at a time that is offset from the zero-crossing point by the actuation duration.

Controlling relay actuation using load current

A universal load control module may include a power supply that operates over a wide voltage range, a microcontroller, and one or more functional control blocks. A functional control block may include a dimmer circuit for controlling a lighting load that provides reverse phase cut mode dimming, forward phase cut mode dimming, and hybrid phase cut mode dimming, as well as thermal protection. One or more universal control modules may be housed in a cabinet that include a cabinet control module. The cabinet may include additional thermal protection measures.

A lighting control device can include a control module and a processing module. The control module can provide a driving signal. The driving signal can modify a control voltage on a control interface. The control voltage can control a controllable ballast or driver. The processing module can determine a duty cycle of the driving signal. The control module and the processing module can receive power via the control interface and a power supply on the control device.
