A lamp has a safety circuit connected to first and second electrical connection terminals. A test is used to detect if the first and second electrical connection terminals are both connected to external power without an interfering impedance such a human body, and only then enable operation of the lamp. A time for the test is different from a time when another lamp in the system applies a test.

The invention describes an LED lighting module () comprising input terminals () for connecting to an input voltage (U); an LED load () realized to operate at an upper threshold voltage level (V); and a regulation circuit () realized to decrease LED current (I) through the LED load () when the input voltage (U) is greater than the upper threshold voltage level (V). The invention further describes an LED lighting arrangement () and a method of driving an LED load ().

Control circuits () bring power converters () in different modes in response to detection results. The power converters () exchange possibly rectified first voltage/current signals with electronic halogen transformers () and supply second voltage/current signals to light emitting diode circuits (). The invention also describes a method of driving a low-power load () with an electronic transformer () realized for driving a normal-power load ().
