Disclosed herein is a multifunctional broadhead and universal ferrule for an archery arrow that has both mechanical and fixed configurations. The disclosure is directed to multifunctional mechanical arrow broadheads that deploy blades upon contact with a target and the ability to transition to a broadhead configured with the blades in a deployed and fixed position prior to target contact.

Multi-functional broadhead fixed and mechanical

Disclosed herein is a mechanical arrow broadhead including a ferrule, wherein the ferrule includes a plurality of slots, a screw pin, a set screw, and a media hole. A first blade, a second blade, and a base. In some aspects, the first and second blades are held in a retracted position throughout an arrow time of flight. In other aspects, the first and second blades are deployed to an open position upon a target impact. The blades pivot from the retracted to the deployed position on an axis of the screw pin, the blades are extended through the plurality of slots, and the set screw may be positioned at a bottom of the ferrule below the screw pin.

Mechanical blade retention system for archery broadhead

A broadhead containing independent pivotable and retractable cutting blades configured for selective locking in a non-deployed and deployed position. The broadhead further contains a non-rotating blade configured for reciprocating movement in order to selectively lock the pivoting blades in their non-deployed and deployed positions. Impact of the broadhead with a target will cause the pivoting blades to transition from the non-deployed position to the deployed position and thereby create a larger cutting diameter.

Broadhead deployment/locking system and method

A trigger assembly includes one or more stationary magnets and a trigger member pivotable relative to the stationary magnets. The trigger member includes a base portion with a pivot point, an actuating portion extending from the base portion in a first direction, and a magnetic trigger portion extending from the base portion in a second direction. The magnetic trigger portion operatively engages the stationary magnets in a first position. The base portion of the trigger member operatively engages a first sear element, which is operatively connected to a sear arm, which in turn operatively engages a second sear element. A spring operatively biases the first sear element. The second sear element retains a bow string in the first position. In a second position, the trigger member rotates to separate the magnetic trigger portion from the magnets, and the second sear element rotates to release the bow string.

Magnetic trigger assembly with reduced travel and method

An insert/outsert assembly for an arrow. The insert includes a cylindrical body having first and second ends. The second end of the insert is dimensioned to fit within the bore of an arrow shaft. The first end includes a prong containing male threads. The outsert includes a cylindrical wall with an arrowshaft end and an arrowhead end. A center bore extends between the arrowshaft and arrowhead ends. The center bore contains a threaded region with female threads located intermediate of the arrowhead end and arrowshaft end. The insert is threadedly connected to the outsert. An arrowhead is threadedly connected to the outsert.

An arrowhead mechanical blade retention system incorporates retention bumps directly on a pair of opposed deployable blades. When closing or opening the mechanical blades in a broadhead, the retention bumps are forced to pass each other prior to the mechanical blades deploying. This necessarily puts tension on each blade, tending to hold them into position without any additional components. With sufficient force, the blades will simultaneously cross from a closed flight position with a pivot point on one side of the broadhead body to an open and deployed position on the other side of the broadhead body. Once the retention bumps pass each other to release the blades, there is a significantly reduced force required to completely deploy the blades.
