A method of preparing a pharmaceutical product comprises the steps of (a) providing a neat active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) complying with at least five of the following parameters determined by using a FT4 powder rheometer: (i) specific basic flow energy of at most 60 mJ/g; (ii) stability index of 0.75 to 1.25; (iii) specific energy of at most 10 mJ/g; (iv) major principle stress at 15 kPa of at most 40; (v) flow function at 15 kPa of at least 1.3; (vi) consolidated bulk density at 15 kPa of at least 0.26 g/mL; (vii) compressibility of at most 47%; and (viii) wall friction angle of at most 40&#xb0;; (b) dispensing the neat API of step (a) into a bottom part of a pharmaceutical carrier using a vacuum assisted metering and filling device; and (c) encapsulating the bottom part, thereby producing a pharmaceutical product.

Method for preparing a pharmaceutical product

An apparatus for filling a receptacle comprises a reservoir adapted to contain a supply of powder pharmaceutical formulation, a holder adapted to hold a receptacle in a position where it may receive powder from the reservoir, an extension extending above the receptacle, and a plunger moveable within the extension, whereby powder from the supply may fill the receptacle and at least a portion of the extension and the plunger may force the powder in the extension into the receptacle. In one version, the plunger may be a portion of the receptacle or may be adapted to install a portion of the receptacle. Alternatively, vibrational or other energy may be used to cause powder in the extension to be filled in the receptacle.

Workstation, apparatuses and methods for the high-throughput synthesis, screening and/or characterization of combinatorial libraries. The invention relates to an array, which permits various high-throughput methods for synthesis, screening and/or characterization in the same array, without requiring sample transfer from the array. In a preferred embodiment, the synthesis, screening, and/or characterization steps are carried out in a highly parallel fashion, where more than one compound is synthesized, screened, and/or characterized at the same time. The invention may be practiced at the microscale. The array may comprise thermal channels, for regulating the temperature of the wells in the array. The wells of the array may comprise a membrane, which is used in various screening and characterization methods. The invention also relates to a covered array, comprising the array and an array cover, as well as an apparatus comprising the array, which comprises the array, an array cover and a stage. The array, array cover, and the stage may be modified as required for a variety of synthesis and/or analysis techniques. The array is easily interchangeable between different analytical instruments, and in an embodiment, the invention relates to an automated workstation, where the array is transferred between different synthesis, screening, and characterization stations. The invention also relates to a variety of methods for synthesis, screening, and characterization, which are adapted for combinatorial chemistry. Any of the embodiments of the invention may be used either alone or taken in various combinations.

A method and system for brewing a desired volume of coffee at a selected brew time, in which a volume of water corresponding to the desired volume of coffee is heated and directed into contact with coffee grounds in a brewing chamber. Contact between at least a portion of the heated water and the coffee grounds is maintained for approximately the selected brew time to form brewed coffee. The brewing time, however, is substantially independent of the desired volume of coffee to be brewed and is controlled by control of the rate at which heated liquid flows into or out of the brewing chamber. At the expiration of the brewing time, brewed coffee is released through an opening in the brewing chamber and into an underlying receptacle.

Disclosed is a low reaction oscillating mass-based torquing tool wherein an oscillating mass is excited into near resonant oscillation by reversing pulses resulting in increased energy stored in oscillation about a dual stiffness spring which develops a higher torque output with the stiffer spring action in the tightening direction and hence tightens the fastener.

A pulse rate sensor system is packaged in a wristwatch sized assembly and is worn by the user to provide an accurate determination of pulse rate. A tonometer sensor is provided to detect heartbeat pressure waves produced by a superficial artery. A microcomputer manipulates the unprocessed tonometer sensor element signals using multiple algorithms to determine an accurate pulse rate.
