A biomass generator useful for continuously growing and withdrawing bacteria to be used in a desired beneficial application, the generator having a bacteria growth chamber; water and nutrient inlet ports; upper and lower outlet ports; a recirculating pump withdrawing and reintroducing fluid to establish a vortex in the growth chamber while controlling foaming and pump cavitation; a low pressure air inlet line discharging air inside the growth chamber above the vortex; a fluid discharge line receiving bacteria-containing fluid from the upper outlet port of the growth chamber; a flush line discharging wash water into the fluid discharge line; and an electrical controller cooperating with solenoid-operated valves and a feeder mechanism to periodically introduce water and nutrients into the chamber, thereby simultaneously causing bacteria-containing fluid to be discharged from the growth chamber through the upper outlet port. A method for growing bacteria using the subject apparatus is also disclosed.

Biomass generator

An automatic mist-sprayer system comprising a control unit having electronic circuitry adapted to activate the sprayer for a predetermined interval in response to a sensed ambient light condition of desired intensity and duration. The system desirably further includes an electrical power supply and a plurality of spaced-apart sprayer heads. A preferred utility for the system of the invention is spraying dilute solutions of insecticide or insect repellent during the periods of significant insect activity that typically occur around dusk and dawn. Manual overrides and a remote receiving unit are also disclosed for use of the system at times other than dusk and dawn.

Light-activated mist sprayer system

A control agent delivery system useful for dispersing a pesticide, herbicide, fungicide or other biocide around a target or target area that is not directly accessible or that is hazardous to the user. The system includes a separable, two-part projectile containing a control agent disposed in a powder, liquid or gel dispersal medium, together with a gas-propelled, projectile launching device. A method of use of the subject system that causes the projectile to perform differently, depending upon the manner of launch, is also disclosed.

A hand-held, pneumatically propelled, metering dispenser for powdered or granular products such as pesticides, the dispenser having a manually operated pneumatic pump, a product canister, a metering scoop insertable into the product canister in operative alignment with the pneumatic pump, and a discharge line into and through which powder or granules supported in the scoop are blown by operation of the pneumatic pump.

An automated system and method is provided for cultivating bacteria in a fluid medium and thereafter selectively discharging the fluid medium, wherein an initial supply of the selected strain or strains of bacteria is combined with nutrients and water in a biogenerator in the presence of air to promote mixing and bacterial cultivation. The system and method utilize a vortex created by recirculation of the fluid medium to achieve aeration and mixing without substantial foaming. The system and method are particularly useful for supplying bacteria to control grease accumulation in restaurant grease traps. The system and method use a biogeneration chamber which has a cylindrical sidewall and surface on the inner side. Further, the chamber has a top and a conical bottom. The top has inlet ports and a vent port. There is also a outlet port in the conical bottom. The conical bottom also has a orifice and recirculated fluid inlet port that is directed tangentially along the inside surface of the sidewall to create a downwardly spiraling vortex in the biogeneration chamber.

Automated system and method for growing bacteria

A recirculating parts washer is disclosed that features a vertically mounted base and a sink and lid rotatably connected to the base. The recirculating parts washer features a cleaning fluid supply container which is separate from the sink but connected to it via a supply line and a drain line. Cleaning fluid is circulated to the sink via the supply line by means of a submersible pump submerged within the cleaning fluid inside the cleaning fluid supply container. Cleaning fluid returns to the supply container via the drain line, thus enabling the cleaning fluid to be reused over and over again until it is exhausted. By having the sink and lid rotatably mounted to the base of the recirculating parts washer, the bulk of the assembly can be conveniently pivoted upwards and back against the wall when not in use. The recirculating parts washer also features a direct current power supply assembly.

A hand-held portable sampler uses a vacuum to induce the flow of air into an air chamber and around a deflector plate mounted substantially transverse to the overall airflow pattern and with edges thereof close to the surface of nutrient material contained in culture containers between opposite sides of the enclosure and the deflector plate to define a constricted air passage. Particulates in the air are caused to impact the surface of nutrient material contained in culture containers as air is deflected through the constricted area. The venturi effect of the constricted area causes turbulence downstream to continue the process of impacting particulates in the nutrient material downstream from the constricted area of the air deflector.

Air sampler

A system for administering acid to a clogged drain, and the method of using the system. The system includes a coupling to which a container of the acid can be threadedly secured. The coupling includes a piercing nipple, which penetrates a seal on the acid bottle. The nipple is hollow, and the acid passes from the bottle through the nipple and into a rigid, but arcuately deformable, tube that is connected to the coupling and is in fluid communication with the nipple. The tube is inserted into the clogged drain, until it is embedded in the clog. The acid is delivered directly to the clog, where it reacts with and dissolves the same.
