A system for measuring concentration of water vapor in a gas includes a pressure sensor configured to sense a static pressure of the gas and a differential pressure sensor configured to sense a differential pressure. A temperature sensor senses a temperature of the gas. Circuitry estimates determines a concentration of water vapor in the gas based upon the measured pressures and temperature.

Correction of natural gas flow calculations for the effects of water vapor

A steam quality meter includes a pipe with an inlet and an outlet. A rod is located within the pipe between the inlet and the outlet. The rod defines an annular flow passage between an outer wall of the rod and an inner wall of the pipe. A mixing device is located within the pipe between the inlet and an upstream end of the rod. Spaced sensors are located within the annular flow passage. Each sensor is configured to sense capacitance and/or impedance of steam flowing through the annular flow passage.

Steam quality meter and measurement method

During manufacturing a unique encrypted authentication code is created for each product based upon device specific information relating to that product. The unique encrypted authentication code together with the device specific information is stored in a database, and a representation of the unique encrypted authentication code is stored on the product. To determine whether a product in question is authentic, the readable representation of the unique encrypted authentication code is read and sent to a server along with a request for product authentication. The server provides an indication of authenticity of the product in question based upon the unique encrypted authentication code received and the device specific information associated with that unique encrypted authentication code in the database.

Method and system for product authentication

A system comprises a differential pressure sensor, a process pressure sensor, a temperature sensor and a microprocessor. The differential pressure sensor is positioned to sense differential pressure along a fluid flow, where fluid properties of the fluid flow have first and second phases separated along a transition curve. The process pressure sensor is positioned to sense a pressure of the fluid flow, and the temperature sensor is positioned to sense a temperature of the fluid flow. The microprocessor is coupled to the temperature sensor and the pressure sensor to determine a flow rate, and the microprocessor generates a diagnostic based on the process pressure and the temperature as compared to the transition curve.

Fluid flow measurement with phase-based diagnostics

A system to configure a field device of the type used to calculate a flow of a process fluid. The system includes a flow repository comprising a list of process fluids with which the field device can be used, fluid equation data which provides information related to fluid equations for calculating fluid parameters of the process fluid, a list of primary elements, and primary element equation data which provides information related to primary element equations and fluid equations for calculating flow of the process fluid. The flow application is adapted to retrieve data from the flow repository and to generate information which is used by field device to calculate the flow of the process fluid.

Field device configuration system

Methods and systems for assessing transmitter electronics in an industrial process control system comprise generating a process condition reference equation signal, a process condition approximation equation signal, and an accuracy output signal. The process condition reference equation signal is generated using a process condition reference equation and process control inputs. The process condition approximation equation signal is generated using a process condition approximation equation that approximates the reference equation using the process control inputs, and approximation equation coefficients based on the approximation equation and the process control inputs. The approximation equation signal is compared to the reference equation signal at a control room workstation such that the industrial process control system can be adjusted. In one embodiment, the approximation equation coefficients are adjusted and transmitted to process transmitter electronics over a control network. In another embodiment, a parameter of the industrial process control system, such as a primary element or transmitter, is adjusted.

Process control system having on-line and off-line test calculation for industrial process transmitters

A process device is configured to meet a desired Safety Integrity Level (SIL). A device interface is configured to couple to the process device and provide an output related to operation of a component of the process device. A component monitor monitors operation of the component and identifies a safety event of the component. A safety response module responds to a safety event of the component in accordance with a safety response.

Process device with supervisory overlayer

A process device for coupling to a two-wire process control loop&#x2014;includes diagnostic circuitry configured to identify a failure or reduced level of performance or provide a prediction of a future failure or reduced level of performance. An output coupled to the two-wire process control loop is configured to provide an analog output on the loop related to an output from the diagnostic circuitry.

Process device with diagnostic annunciation

A field mountable dedicated process diagnostic device is used for diagnosing operation of an industrial control or monitoring system. An input is configured to receive at least one process signal related to operation of the industrial process. A memory contains diagnostic program instructions configured to implement a diagnostic algorithm using the process signal. The diagnostic algorithm is specific to the industrial process. A microprocessor performs the diagnostic program instructions and responsively diagnoses operation of the process based upon the process signal.

Dedicated process diagnostic device

A scalable process transmitter architecture includes a unitized sensor module and an optional scalable transmitter. The sensor module has a sensor output that is configurable which can connect locally to a scalable transmitter module to form a transmitter, or can be wired directly to a remote receiver. The scalable transmitter can mount on the unitized sensor module and generates a scalable output for a remote receiver. The transmitter module can provide more advanced features for specific applications.

Scalable process transmitter

A transducer intraconnection bus connects a limited number of transducer components chosen from a larger number of types of transducer components. The transducer components include functional variations in plant communication protocol, fluid variable, operator control, embedded control and display functional variations. One transducer component is a sensor module that exchanges type data over the transducer intraconnection bus during an adaptation interval. At the end of the adaptation interval, a method of communication is selected that is adaptable to the types connected. During an operational interval following the adaptation interval, the selected method of communication is used on the transducer intraconnection bus.

A sensor module has an outer module housing with an fluid inlet and a feedthrough with five electrical contacts. A transducer circuit in the module has a sensor connected to the inlet, a regulator connected to contacts and a transceiver providing a serial output to contact . A logic circuit is selectable to a first mode of operation in which the logic circuit generates ON-OFF logic levels on contacts or it can be selected to a second mode of operation in which the logic circuit detects ON-OFF logic levels on the contacts
