A process for sintering silicon carbide is provided which includes the steps of providing a silicon carbide powder of silicon carbide granules; purifying the silicon carbide powder; subjecting the purified silicon carbide powder to a gel-casting process; removing the gel-cast part from the mold; drying the gel-cast part; obtaining a dried cast ceramic part (a green body) which is capable of green machining into a final desired shape; firing the green body in an oven at temperatures ranging from about 100&#xb0; C. to about 1900&#xb0; C. to remove or burn out any polymer remaining in the ceramic; and sintering the green body at temperatures ranging from about 1600&#xb0; C. to less than about 2200&#xb0; C.

System, method, and apparatus for smoothing of edges in images to remove irregularities are disclosed. In one aspect of the present disclosure, a method of image processing includes, identifying an edge in an image having an associated set of edge characteristics, determining the associated set of edge characteristics, and applying a low pass filter to a pixel of the edge based on the associated set of edge characteristics to generate a second image based on the image, wherein the edge in the image is smoothed in the second image. The method further includes generating a third image which is a blend of the original image and the second (edge-smoothed) image based on the associated set of edge characteristics.

System, method, and apparatus for smoothing of edges in images to remove irregularities

Systems and methods for block noise detection and filtering are disclosed. One embodiment includes, computing difference magnitudes in pixel values for adjacent pixels in the image. The difference magnitudes can include horizontal difference magnitudes for horizontally adjacent pixels and vertical difference magnitudes for vertically adjacent pixels. One embodiment further includes using normalized sums of the difference magnitudes to determine a set of noise characteristics of the block noise and a set of image characteristics of the image and configuring inputs to the block noise filter using the set of noise and image characteristics.

Block noise detection and filtering

A technique for deinterlacing an interlaced video stream is disclosed. A embodiment of a method includes calculating a pixel using edge detection, calculating a pixel using vertical interpolation, calculating a pixel using weaving, calculating a confidence level, calculating a motion value, blending the edge pixel calculation with the vertical interpolation calculation to generate a first output pixel calculation, the blending being based on the confidence level, and blending the first output pixel calculation with the weaving calculation to generate a second output pixel calculation, the blending being based on the motion value.

Edge detection

A method is described for deinterlacing an interlaced video stream. The method includes detecting an occurrence of groups of adjacent fields that are derived from a common original image frame source, and merging field pairs of the interlaced video stream to create a non-interlaced video stream output.

Source-adaptive video deinterlacer

A technique for detecting original scan lines is disclosed. The technique involves receiving a deinterlaced signal with even scan lines and odd scan lines. After the deinterlaced signal is received, a determination is made as to whether the even scan lines or the odd scan lines are the original scan lines. In certain embodiments, an interlaced signal can be generated from the original scan lines. In other embodiments, an optimized deinterlaced signal can be generated using the original scan lines.

Original scan line detection

A technique for deinterlacing an interlaced video stream is disclosed. A method according to the technique can involve calculating a gradient of image intensity and identifying an edge. A bin can be selected that encompasses the edge. An unknown pixel can be calculated by blending known pixel values along the bin boundaries.

Apparatuses and methods are described for performing time base correction and frame rate conversion with respect to signals. An apparatus includes circuitry to synthesize an output video clock. The apparatus has circuitry that receives an input video synchronization signal. The apparatus has circuitry to change a frequency of the output video clock based on an intended number of video clock cycles per input vertical period and a period of the input video synchronization signal.

Time base correction and frame rate conversion

An interlace motion artifact detector which identifies video image spatial frequencies characteristic of motion artifacts. The detected frequency is the maximum which can be represented by the vertical sampling rate of the video format (i.e., the Nyquist frequency). This frequency is detected by a pair of partial Discrete Fourier Transforms (DFT) which each calculate only the frequency component of interest. Additional vertical frequency components at one half and one quarter the interlace motion artifact frequency are also detected via a partial DFT. The presence of these lower frequencies acts as an indication of an erroneous motion artifact detection. Additionally, the dynamic range and maximum level of the video data is used as an indication of when to boost the frequency detection levels in areas of low brightness and/or contrast.

Interlace motion artifact detection using vertical frequency detection and analysis

A digital image processor is provided. The digital image processor includes a deinterlacing processor that is implemented upon a digital processing unit. The deinterlacing processor is coupled to an input operable to receive an interlaced video stream, a digital memory for storing portions of the interlaced video signal, and an output operable to transmit a deinterlaced video stream. The deinterlacing processor is operable to perform frequency analysis upon the received interlaced video stream in order to generate the deinterlaced video stream having reduced motion artifacts.

Method and apparatus for detecting frequency in digital video images

A method for removing MPEG-2 chroma upconversion artifacts in a video stream includes detecting a presence of artifacts in an incorrectly upsampled MPEG-2 video stream and removing the presence of artifacts resulting in an artifact free video stream.
