A method for expediting manufacture of replacement gaskets. A specialized scale is used to allow for rapid, accurate measurement of a gasket, or flange rubbing, remote from the gasket manufacturer. These measurements may then be imported into design software by the manufacturer to facilitate the production of replacement gaskets.

System and method for expediting production of replacement gaskets

The disclosed principles provide for novel flange gaskets having a mesh filter and methods of manufacture thereof. Disclosed mesh flange gaskets provide a combination of quality seal, even at low clamp loads, with a filter for filtering out unwanted particulates, as well as manufacturing at a low cost. In one aspect, the disclosed principles utilize expanded PTFE, or other similar sealing material, on the outer section of a circular mesh positioned over the central bore of the flange and which is sandwiched between the two halves of a corrugated plastic gasket. The two halves of the flange gasket are then attached to each other with the ePTFE impregnated mesh therebetween. With this composition, the ePTFE impregnated mesh becomes part of the seal of the overall flange gasket. This provides low load sealing on the top and bottom of the gasket against the flanges, and prevents leakage through the middle barrier layer.

Mesh flange gaskets and methods of manufacture thereof

Apparatuses and methods for operating a downhole tool are disclosed. A downhole tool configuration device includes an upper stem movable between an up position and a down position. The upper stem comprises an extended portion. An outer sleeve is selectively coupleable to the upper stem at the up position and the down position and an inner sleeve is selectively coupleable to the upper stem at the up position and the down position. In the up position, the upper stem is operable to transfer tension to the outer sleeve and torque to the inner sleeve. In the down position, the upper stem is operable to transfer torque to the outer sleeve.

Methods and systems for operating a downhole tool

A tubing conveyed tool for use in perforating a well bore utilizing abrasive perforating techniques. The perforating tool is particularly useful in non-vertical wells. The perforating tool is designed to permit running and setting a bridge plug, and then perforating the well bore without requiring the removal of the tool string. An eccentric weight bar can also be used to allow for directional perforating in non-vertical wells. The eccentric weight bar uses gravity to cause the bar to rotate to a predetermined position.

Methods and devices for one trip plugging and perforating of oil and gas wells

A cap is lowered onto and secured to a subsea member with an external flange, effecting a seal between the external flange and cap. The cap includes a tubular outer body defining a cavity, and a tubular inner body defining a bore, wherein the lower end of the inner body resides within the cavity. The cap also includes a lower engaging member coupled to the outer body that is radially movable between an inward state and an outward state and configured to alternately engage and disengage at least one of a backside of the external flange. Finally, the cap includes an upper engaging member coupled to the outer body and being radially movable independently of the lower engaging member between an inward state and an outward state and configured to engage and disengage the inner body.

Made-up flange locking cap

A connector is lowered onto and secured to a subsea member, effecting a seal between subsea member and the connector. The connector includes an outer body defining a cavity, and an inner body defining a bore, wherein the lower end of the inner body resides within the cavity. The connector also includes an engaging member coupled to the outer body and adapted to engage the subsea device, the engaging member radially movable between a disengaged position and an engaged position. The connector includes a seal carried by the inner body and adapted to form a seal between the bore and the subsea device. Finally, the connector includes a pre-loading member coupled to the outer body, operable to urge the inner body and seal against the subsea device to exert a pre-loading force on the seal. A differential pressure between the bore and a subsea environment energizes the seal.

Subsea locking connector

An apparatus for translating an expander tool within a wellbore. The apparatus enables an expander tool to be moved axially within a wellbore during an expansion operation without raising or lowering the working string during the expansion operation. In one aspect, the apparatus comprises a shaft, a nut member which rides along the shaft when the shaft is rotated, and a recess connected to the nut member for receiving the shaft as the nut member travels axially along the shaft. The expander tool is connected at an end to the nut member such that translation of the nut member along the shaft serves to translate the expander tool axially within the wellbore. In one aspect, the shaft employs helical threads for incrementally advancing the nut member upon rotation of the shaft. In a further aspect, the apparatus includes a nut housing for holding the nut member, and a key member disposed within the circumference of the nut and the nut housing. The key member extends into a spline fabricated into the inner surface of the tubular to be expanded, such as a lower string of casing, to maintain the nut member in a non-rotational manner during rotation of the shaft.

Threaded apparatus for selectively translating rotary expander tool downhole

A variable downhole choke is disclosed wherein an outer housing includes a selected port pattern of ports and subports and a sleeve having similar ports and subports wherein subports depend from ports on each of the housing and sleeve. The ports/subports are oriented so that upon converging movement of housing and sleeve the sleeve subports align with housing subports before the sleeve ports align with housing ports.
