A door closer system is provided that includes a motor, a spring, a reduction gear set, and a rack and a pinion mechanism. The spring and pinion may be coupled to the rack, and the pinion may be selectively coupled to the gear set. The motor may be selectively mechanically coupled to the gear set. The pinion may rotate in a first direction via the rack as the spring is compressed in a second direction opposite the first direction as the spring is expanded. The motor is operable to rotate and act upon the pinion through the gear set, thereby rotating the pinion in the second direction and assist the spring in closing the door.

Door closer system

A door closer system is provided that includes a motor, a spring, a reduction gear set, and a rack and a pinion mechanism. The spring and pinion may be coupled to the rack, and the pinion may be selectively coupled to the gear set. The motor may be selectively mechanically coupled to the gear set. The motor is operable to rotate and act upon the pinion through the gear set, thereby rotating the pinion in the second pinion direction and assist the spring in closing the door.

A latch assembly configured to attach to a door includes one of a knob and a lever. The latch assembly further includes a latch extending from the door. A spindle is rotatable from a first position to a second position to move the latch from an extended position to a retracted position. A first biasing member is selectively operable to bias the spindle toward the first position. A second biasing member is selectively operable to bias the spindle toward the first position. An actuator is movable between a knob position in which only one of the first biasing member and the second biasing member biases the spindle toward the first position and a lever position in which both the first biasing member and the second biasing member cooperate to bias the spindle toward the first position.

System and method for adjusting the spring torque of a lock chassis

A locking mechanism for a door includes an outside actuator, an inside actuator, and a housing removably fixed to the door. A locking bar is selectively engageable with the housing. A first cam member is operable to move the locking bar from an unlocked position wherein the locking bar is released from the housing and a locked position wherein the locking bar is fixedly coupled to the housing. A spindle is rotatably coupled to the inside actuator and selectively coupled to the outside actuator. A second cam member is coupled to the first cam member and to the spindle and operable to move the locking bar from the locked position to the unlocked position in response to rotation of the inside actuator from a neutral position to one of a first clockwise position and a second counterclockwise position.
