Disclosed are apparatus and techniques for providing presence and location information from available media resources to participants in a media conference so that the participants can use then use such available resources in the conferencing interaction. When participating in such rich media conferences with presence and location capabilities, apparatus and techniques are provided for determining the device(s) being used and their capabilities and determining available resources presently connected to a network that is available to the participants and presenting such presence information to the conference participants. Additionally, apparatus and techniques are provided for obtaining presence and location knowledge of potential resources that are accessible but not connected to the network or shutdown and presenting such information to the participants. Thus, the participants can obtain presence and location information regarding accessible resources, including off-line or shutdown resources, and then use such information to enhance the conference in a number of ways.

RFID for available resources not connected to the network

In one embodiment, a network device enforces entitlement rules based on call control traffic received. The call control traffic is received at the network device from an application associated with a first user for a second user. The network device determines identification information for the first user and/or the second user. The network device then determines an action to take based on an entitlement policy associated with the first user or the second user. The action is then performed. The network device enforces the entitlement policy without any modification to the application to cause the call control traffic to be routed through the network device. The network device is in the call control path but does not appear to be a participant in the call to the first application.

Entitlement for call routing and denial

Systems, methods, and apparatus may perform operations related to delivering wireless information associating to a facility. A message is received from a first mobile device with at least a portion of the message including information associated with a physical location. Based on the message, a facility based on the physical location is identified. The message may be associated with the facility. An indication is received that a second mobile device is proximate to the facility and engaged in a message browsing mode. Based on receiving the indication, the message may be presented to the second mobile device.

Delivering wireless information associating to a facility

A customizable mechanism is provided for determining and reporting the overall reachability of a user based on the current statuses of a variety of network elements associated with the user, such as devices or applications that a user may use to communicate with others. The system can evaluate customizable reachability rules to determine an overall reachability status for the user. The system provides for distribution of reachability status and presence statuses of network elements to authorized subscribers.

Providing an aggregate reachability status

In one embodiment, a method includes displaying on a mobile device, a real time view of a user's environment within a building, communicating wirelessly in the building with a location tracking system operable to identify a location of the mobile device relative to one or more elements in the real time view, and displaying a computer generated overlay on the real time view, the overlay including location information associated with the elements.

Identifying locations within a building using a mobile device

A method is provided in one example embodiment that includes receiving a location update indicative of a position of a mobile device; determining a proximity of the mobile device to an anchor location based on the position; identifying a preference associated with the mobile device; and sending content to an output device based on the preference and the proximity. In specific implementations, the anchor location is a display device and the content is sent to the output device if the proximity is within a viewing area of the display device. Additionally, the preference can be a preferred language, where content is sent to the output device in the preferred language.

System and method for providing proximity-based dynamic content in a network environment

Systems and techniques relating to electronically managing public resources are described. A described technique includes identifying a location of a mobile device based on received information from one or more wireless access points communicably coupled to the mobile device; presenting to the mobile device, information descriptive of an availability of one or more facilities proximate to the mobile device, based on the identified location of the mobile device and receiving a first service request from the mobile device; receiving, from the mobile device, a second service request for provisioning a facility of the one or more facilities based on the presented information; indicating the facility to generate a signal for a provisioning confirmation; and provisioning the facility based on receiving the provisioning confirmation.

Managing public resources

A fully distributed, scalable infrastructure, communication system. The system comprises at least on Space, at least one double agent and at least one non-space specific double agent. Devices and applications that wish to communicate with other members of the Community or outside of the Community insert objects into the Space. The Space then publishes the presence of that object to subscribed members of the community. The double agents are capable of communicating with any desired protocols on one side and the Space protocol on the other. Non-space specific agents handle routing, administrative and other tasks, such as communication between Spaces and Communities.

Fully distributed, scalable infrastructure, communication system

In one embodiment, techniques allow a callee to listen to a caller leaving a voicemail message on a voicemail system. An applications oriented network (AON) device is configured to detect a connection to a voicemail system when a caller calls a callee. A notification message is then sent to the callee that indicates a voicemail message is being left. The callee is presented options in which the callee can decide to listen to the voicemail message in real time as it is being left by the caller. Also, the callee may answer the call from the caller as the voicemail message is being left. The applications oriented network device receives a response indicating whether the callee wants to listen to the voicemail message or not. If the callee wants to listen to the voicemail message, the applications oriented network device sends a copy of the voicemail message being left by the caller as it is being received from the caller.

Techniques for listening to a caller leaving a voicemail message in real-time and real-time pick up of a call

A message-processing agent receives an object from a space in a Scalable Infrastructure System. The message-processing agent determines the destination of the object and checks a preference setting for the destination. The message-processing agent then routes the object to its destination as determined by the preference settings, possibly altering the destination in favor of an alternate destination indicated by the preference settings.

Smart secretary

A method and system to provide a notification is described. The system may comprise a first mobile device including a positioning component to determine when the first mobile device is proximate at least one predefined zone (e.g., enters, remains within or leaves the predefined zone), and a location data compiler to compile location data which includes a zone identifier corresponding to the at least one predefined zone. The first mobile device may further comprise a device identifier and a transmitter to send the location data and the device identifier to at least one recipient associated with the at least one predefined zone. The system may include a second mobile device associated with the at least one recipient and including a receiver to receive the location data from the first mobile device, and a display to display the location data and the zone identifier on the second mobile device.

Method and system to determine and communicate the presence of a mobile device in a predefined zone

A system for monitoring connectivity status includes network traffic transport entities and an aggregation server. The network traffic transport entities transport network traffic and are able to monitor a portion of the network traffic, access one or more network traffic alert rules, apply the network traffic alert rules to the portion of the network traffic, and determine whether an alert is required based on the application of the network traffic alert rules. The network traffic transport entities are also able to, in response to a determination that an alert is required, generate an alert message. The aggregation server is able to maintain a connectivity status profile, receive the alert message from the network traffic transport entity, identify a matching one of the communication devices in the connectivity status profile, determine an updated network connectivity status for the matching communication device, and update the connectivity status for the matching communication device.
