A photovoltaic (PV) system includes module-level power electronic (MLPE) devices that produce energy. The PV system includes a gateway to receive and send data to MLPE devices. The gateway also connects the PV system with a network, such as a local area network, that allows access to the Internet. The gateway provides functionality within the PV system to perform various processes to improve operation of MLPE devices.

Photovoltaic management and module-level power electronics

A communication system and method of operating the same that includes, in one embodiment, a transmit filter including a transmit filter capacitor, and a receive filter coupled to the transmit filter. The communication system also includes a switch, coupled to an auxiliary winding of a transformer and to the transmit filter capacitor, configured to alter an impedance of the transmit filter during a receive mode of operation of the communication system. In another embodiment, a transmitter is configured to receive an input data stream, and produce a control signal for a switch-mode power amplifier employing a predetermined data sequence selected by the input data stream thereto.

Communication systems adaptable to power line communications

An electric system, method, and computer-readable medium facilitate shared access to a shared power line for communication using a PLC protocol. The electric system, method, and computer-readable medium may determine when the shared power line is available for a transmission, allocate unicast transmission time slots to each of a plurality of inverters, transmit a multicast message requesting that each of the plurality of inverters communicate information during its allocates transmission time slot, determine whether a first inverter in the plurality of inverters did not communicate using the shared power line during its allocated unicast transmission time slot, and if the first inverter did not communicate information during its allocated unicast transmission time slot, transmit with the line interface a jam signal during the first inverter's unicast transmission time slot.

Communication between photovoltaic devices on a shared power line

Updating firmware of a display device. The display device may include a display screen and a video interface for receiving video signals from a host system and providing the video signals for display on the display screen. The display device may include a memory that stores program instructions for controlling operation of the display device. The display device may include a serial bus interface (e.g., a USB interface), which may receive signals from a host computer for updating the program instructions in the memory. A serial bus to first protocol bridge may receive the serial bus signals from the serial bus interface and convert the serial bus signals to signals of the first protocol. A display controller may update the program instructions in the memory of the display in response to the signals of the first protocol.
