A distributed computing system for managing blood collection procedures in a blood collection facility includes a system server including a memory and a communication interface, the system server configured to store data identifiers for a plurality of different human operators. A plurality of computerized blood collection instruments are configured to collect blood from donors to generate collected products, each blood collection instrument comprising a communication interface configured to transmit data regarding the blood collection instrument to the system server. The system server stores data identifiers for each blood collection instrument. A computer is coupled to the system server and configured to present a dashboard for improving operational performance at and/or across blood collection facilities. The dashboard displays procedure data, data regarding the plurality of different human operators and data tracking each operator's activities or performance on a display.

A distributed computing system for managing blood processing procedures in a blood processing facility has a system server, a plurality of computerized blood collection instruments and a computer. The system server stores data identifiers for different human operators. The blood collection instruments collect blood components from donors to generate collected products. Each instrument transmits data regarding the instrument to the system server, the system server storing data identifiers for each instrument. The computer presents the data regarding the blood collection instruments on a display and receives assignments of different donors to different blood collection instruments from a human administrator.

A database query processing system for blood donation tracking includes a database, a network interface circuit and a processing circuit. The database stores records for a plurality of blood donors, each record comprising an amount of a blood component the blood donor has donated. The processing circuit determines an amount of a blood component a first donor may donate based on records for a plurality of donations made by the first blood donor and based on a limit of an amount of blood component the donor may donate in a predetermined period of time. The processing circuit further receives a request for the amount of the blood component the first donor may donate and transmits the amount of the blood component the first donor may donate to the remote computing device.

A medical system includes a reusable apparatus and a disposable fluid circuit, the disposable fluid circuit being coupled to the reusable apparatus and the reusable apparatus being configured to move a fluid through the disposable fluid circuit to perform a procedure. The medical system also includes a controller coupled to the reusable apparatus and configured to control the reusable apparatus to move the fluid through the disposable circuit according to the procedure, to store a procedure record in a memory, to await a procedure termination input, and if the procedure termination input is received, to request at least one input corresponding to a procedure termination reason and to add the procedure termination reason corresponding to the input to the procedure record if received.

Tools are provided for tracking blood component inventories, forecasting blood component demand, and coordinating donations to meet current and anticipated demand. Some embodiments of the systems and methods identify when blood component units at a health care facility are beginning to run low or are approaching expiration, before the need for additional units becomes critical. Some embodiments of the systems and methods coordinate new donations and modify existing scheduled donations to meet real-time and forecasted demand for blood components.

The reception staff computer intakes donor data and uploads the donor data to the system server. The administrative level computer presents the donor data and the real-time data regarding the blood collection instruments on a display and receives assignments of different donors to different blood collection instruments from a human administrator.
