In one example, a conveyance system comprises a conveyance mechanism and a linkage configured to movably couple the conveyance mechanism to a vehicle, wherein the conveyance mechanism is coupled to the linkage at a first connection mechanism and configured to pivot about a pivot point. The conveyance system comprises a vertical movement mechanism configured to move the first connection mechanism in a substantially vertical direction, and a tilt movement mechanism comprising a tilt actuator configured to pivot the conveyance mechanism about the pivot point. A second connection mechanism couples the tilt actuator to one of the conveyance mechanism or the linkage and allows a defined range of tilt movement of the conveyance mechanism that is independent of actuation of the tilt actuator.

In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, a method and system for detecting the position of a shaft comprises providing a shaft with defined hardened metallic regions. The shaft has a first hardened metallic region from a surface of the shaft to a first radial depth from the surface at a first longitudinal position. The shaft has a second hardened metallic region from the surface of the shaft to a second radial depth at a second longitudinal position. The second radial depth is different from the first radial depth. A sensor senses an eddy current to detect an alignment of at least one of the first hardened metallic region and the second hardened metallic region with a fixed sensing region at a respective time. A data processor determines a longitudinal position of the shaft with respect to a cylinder at the respective time based on the sensed eddy current.

System and method for detecting the axial position of a shaft or a member attached thereto

A cylinder position sensing system includes a cylinder housing which slidably receives a rod or shaft element. The cylinder housing has an end piece which slidably receives the shaft element. A first axial groove is formed in the shaft element, and a first magnet member is mounted in the first groove. A second helical groove is formed in the shaft element and is spaced apart from the first groove. A second magnet member is mounted in the second groove. A magnetic field sensor is mounted in the cylinder housing so that the sensor generates an output signal as a function of a relative distance between the first and second magnet members as the second element moves with respect to the first element. Preferably, the shaft element includes a central cylindrical shaft and a hollow cylindrical sleeve mounted over and receiving the shaft. Preferably, the first and second grooves are formed in an inner surface of the sleeve, and the sleeve and the end piece are formed of nonferrous material.

Position sensing apparatus

A hydraulic system for a detachable implement such as draper platform for a combine utilizes a platform-mounted pump supplied with return oil from the existing reel drive motor. The system utilizes the existing combine hydraulic connection for the reel drive to supply oil to the draper belt drive motors. Oil from the combine powers the reel drive motor and then flows into a manifold block (mixing chamber) before entering the inlet of the draper belt drive pump. This pump is sized to provide sufficient oil flow to power the draper belt drive motors, arranged in series. Return oil from the belt drive motors is routed back to the manifold block where it can mix with incoming oil from the reel drive pump before returning to the combine reservoir or being recirculated to the belt drive motors. The hydraulic system avoids the need to equip the platform with a complete hydraulic system and avoids the need to modify the existing hydraulic system of the combine.

The invention is directed to a hydraulic tensioning and suspension system having a main drive wheel located above and between two idlers that are mounted to pivot arms that are coupled to a rigid frame. In addition, two track rollers are mounted to the rigid frame by an intermediate arm and a third track roller is mounted to the front pivot arm by an additional pivot arm. Four hydraulic suspension cylinders are hydraulically coupled to one another for biassing the idlers and track rollers downwardly to provide a suspension system. The rear pivot arm is a telescoping arm having a hydraulic tensioning cylinder. A two position control valve supplies hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic tensioning cylinder in response to a speed ratio selected by the operator. With higher tension being applied to the track when the vehicle transmission is in low gear and lower tension is being applied to the track when the vehicle transmission is in higher gears.

In a hydraulic system for a combine harvester, each of three subsystems is supplied with fluid through its own individual reservoir outlet. The total return flows from the three subsystems is distributed between two inlet ports of the reservoir. A pair of wire mesh delivery tubes is connected between the respective return inlet ports and two of the outlet ports. The hydraulic circuitry is arranged so that the return flow at each inlet port exceeds the supply flow demanded at the corresponding outlet port so that, while some of the return fluid is directly recirculated through the delivery tube to that outlet, there is a net flow outwards through the wire mesh of the tubes to mix with the fluid supply held in the reservoir.
