A communication device has a controller that selects one of at least two second antennas for concurrent transmission with a first antenna. The controller monitors concurrent communication activity of a first and a second transmitter. Based on the concurrent communication activity, the controller identifies respective transmit power limits associated with intermodulation distortion (IMD) for the first antenna transmitting at the first transmit frequency and one of the at least two second antennas transmitting at the second transmit frequency. The controller identifies available total radiated power (TRP), respectively, for each of the at least two second antennas and connects the second transmitter to one of the at least two second antennas having the highest available TRP to optimize communication performance.

Method for antenna selection for concurrent independent transmissions via multiple antennas

A communication device has a controller that selects one of a second antenna and at least one alternate second antenna for concurrent transmission with a first antenna. The controller monitors concurrent communication activity of the first and the second transmitter. Based on the concurrent communication activity, the controller identifies respective transmit power limits associated with intermodulation distortion (IMD) for the first antenna transmitting at the first transmit frequency and one of the second antenna and the at least one alternate second antenna transmitting at the second transmit frequency and having respective antenna isolation levels to the first antenna. The controller identifies, available total radiated power (TRP), respectively, for the second antenna and the at least one alternate second antenna and connects the second transmitter to one of the second antenna and the at least one alternate second antenna having the highest available TRP to optimize communication performance.

A communication device, method, and computer program product provide communication quality mitigation in response to an intermodulation product resulting from concurrent transmission by first and second transmitters of a communication device. A controller is communicatively coupled to the first and second transmitters and executes an intermodulation mitigation utility that enables the communication device to monitor transmission characteristics of first and second transmitters of the communication device. The controller determines whether concurrent transmissions by the first and second transmitters create an intermodulation product having a power level at one or more frequencies that exceeds an intermodulation threshold for at least one of: (i) spurious emissions to a thirty-party receiver; and (ii) desensing a receiver of the communication device. Controller enables communication device to perform reduced transmit power mode that reduces the power level of the intermodulation product to not exceed the intermodulation threshold and performs communication quality mitigation.

Intermodulation limiting on multiple transmitter device

A method for detecting, at a controller of an electronic device, when an antenna switch condition associated with at least one of a first antenna and a second antenna occurs, and for responding to the antenna switch condition. The electronic device is configured with the first antenna assigned to a primary antenna path and the second antenna assigned to a secondary antenna path. In response to detecting that the antenna switch condition has occurred, a first antenna switch operation is triggered. The switch operation assigns the first antenna to the secondary antenna path and the second antenna to the primary antenna path. The method further includes performing a transmission close loop tuning on the second antenna and detecting completion of the transmission close loop tuning on the second antenna. In response to detecting completion of the transmission close loop tuning, a second antenna switch operation is executed.

A method for identifying, at a communication device, operation in a dual connect operating mode that enables the communication device to concurrently communicate with a first network source and a second network source. The method including monitoring, by a controller of the communication device, a plurality of transmission characteristics of a first and second transmitter and a first receiver of the communication device. The method including determining, based on the plurality of transmission characteristics, whether concurrent transmissions by the first and second transmitters result in an intermodulation interference condition that interferes with a voice carrying signal. In response to the concurrent transmissions resulting in the intermodulation interference condition, the method including mitigating an effect of the intermodulation interference condition by rescheduling transmission of at least one data signal between a second transmitter and a second network source to a later time period.

Module for voice signal interference mitigation for dual connectivity applications

A communication device, method, and computer program product provide communication quality mitigations for concurrently-transmitting transmitters of the multiple transmitter communication device. A controller is communicatively coupled with first and second transmitters. The controller executes a transmit power control utility that enables the communication device to monitor transmission characteristics of first and second transmitters. The controller determines whether a human is within a proximity threshold distance to the first and second transmitters. In response to determining that the human is within the proximity threshold distance, the controller determines whether concurrent transmissions by the first and second transmitters have an aggregated power level that exceeds a power threshold. In response to determining that the aggregated power level exceeds the power threshold, the controller triggers operation in a reduced transmit power mode that reduces the aggregate power level to not exceed the power threshold and that includes communication quality mitigation.

Aggregate transmit power limiting on uncoordinated multiple transmitter device

A method, communication device, and computer program product mitigate Specific Absorption Rating (SAR) exposure to a user proximate to a communication device. The method includes an on-device measurement receiver of a communication device detecting a first signal level corresponding to power delivered to a first antenna. The method includes a controller determining a first return loss value based on a first transmit power setting and the first signal level. The method includes the controller determining whether the first return loss value differs from a baseline value by a threshold amount. In response to the controller determining that the first return loss value differs by the threshold amount, the controller causes the communication device to reduce the power delivered to the first antenna.

In one example, a wireless communication device adapted for multi-band operation includes a first antenna, a first diplexer configured to pass signals within first and second sets of frequency bands, first and second signal paths, wherein each signal path includes a set of notch filters tunable to attenuate a different frequency. The method includes a controller determining, based on the first signal a first set of values for a power efficiency parameter. The method includes the controller determining whether both the first value and the second value differ from respective baseline values by respective Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) threshold amounts. In response to the controller determining that both the first and second values differ by the respective SAR threshold amounts, the controller adjusts the power delivered to the first antenna.

Proximal user detection with a complex measurement receiver

Wireless networks share UE location information in order to identify possible inter-network aggressors. If a first network determines, based on the location data it receives from a second network, that one of the first network's UEs may cause excessive interference to one or more of the second network's UEs, the first network grants A-MPR to its UE (e.g., by signaling the UE). The first network's UE can then lower its transmit power in order avoid interfering with the second network's UE.

The method includes an on-device measurement receiver of a communication device detecting a first complex reflected signal corresponding to transmit signals that are reflected by a first antenna. The method includes a controller determining a pair of first complex return loss values based on a first complex transmit power signal and the first complex reflected signal. In one example, a method is performed on an integrated circuit, for generating a composite envelope reference voltage for a plurality of transmit signals. The method includes, generating a composite baseband signal from a plurality of baseband signals, wherein the plurality of baseband signals represent a corresponding plurality of different transmit signals. The method also includes calculating a composite envelope signal for the composite baseband signal, and generating a composite envelope reference voltage from the composite envelope signal for use in powering a single power amplifier as the power amplifier transmits the plurality of different transmit signals.

A wireless communication user terminal includes a controller communicably coupled to a transceiver. The controller is configured to tune the transceiver to transmit on a narrowband uplink control channel within a wideband frequency resource.
