A filament wrapping and reflow system and a method therefrom. The method including wrapping a filament around an elongate substrate along a longitudinal direction between a proximal end of the elongate substrate and a distal end of the elongate substrate. The method also including melting the filament to form at least a portion of the elongate medical device. The system including a substrate system, a filament system, a heater, one or more actuators, and a controller.

Filament wrapping and reflow system and methods to manufacture an elongate medical device

Seals used within lead bores of implantable medical devices for creating a seal to implantable medical leads inserted into the lead bores include a cylinder that engages the lead body. The length of contact of the cylinder to the lead body is at least 0.010&#x2033; long while average contact pressure is no greater than (10 pounds per inch)/(contact length). Adequate electrical isolation is achieved, even when a debris particle is present between the inner cylinder and the lead body while insertion force remains acceptable.

Titration schemes are carried out by medical infusion devices, such as ambulatory or implantable infusion devices. The titration schemes carried out by infusion systems and devices may take into account patient side effects in controlling the rate at which a medicament is delivered from the devices of systems.

Titration for medical infusion devices and systems

Implantable medical devices include elongated conductor bodies and related features including an attachment to the medical device at one end and a connector that receives a medical lead at the other end. The connector may have various features such as a modular design whereby the connector is constructed from a series of stacked contact modules. Other features of the connector include electrical contacts that are relatively thin conductors or the order of 0.040 inches or less and that may include radial protrusions to establish contact with the electrical connectors of the lead. Furthermore, electrical contacts may be mounted within the connector in a floating manner so that radial movement of the electrical contact may occur during lead insertion. Additional features include a feedthrough where conductors exposed beyond a housing of the implantable medical device make direct electrical connection to conductors present within the elongated body.

A replacement bicycle stem is disclosed herein. In particular, prior to operation of a bicycle in a stationary environment, the bicycle stem, if present, is removed and replaced with the replacement bicycle stem disclosed herein. The replacement bicycle stem is intended to rotate or turn with the handlebars, but independent of the steer tube and front wheel. More specifically, the replacement stem includes a main body with a mounting channel at one end and a handlebar clamp at another end. At least one bearing is disposed within a portion of the mounting channel for engagement against the steer tube. The at least one bearing allows or facilitates rotation of the stem about the steer axis independent of or substantially independent of the steer tube.

Systems, devices, and techniques are disclosed for forming an elongate lead body module of a modular lead. The method may comprise rotating a mandrel, wherein the mandrel extends through a through-hole of a conductor hub, wherein each conductor of a plurality of conductors extend through a respective channel of a plurality of channels of the conductor hub, wherein each conductor of the plurality of conductors extends from a respective bobbin of plurality of bobbins to the channels, wherein the plurality of bobbins are coupled to a carriage, the carriage defining a central opening through which the mandrel passes. The method may comprise moving the carriage away from the conductor hub along a length of the mandrel while the mandrel rotates causing the conductors to coil around the mandrel.

Modular lead

Seals used within lead bores of implantable medical devices for creating a seal to implantable medical leads inserted into the lead bores include an inner cylinder that engages the lead body. The inner cylinder is surrounded by a gap to either an outer cylinder of the seal or to surrounding structures of the implantable medical device. The inner cylinder has freedom of movement within the gap such that movement of the lead body that is off-axis relative to a centerline of the lead bore causes movement of the inner cylinder that is providing the seal. In this manner, the seal engagement to the lead body is maintained during this off-axis movement of the lead body.

An implantable medical electrical lead includes an electrode assembly in which an electrical junction between a first conductor and an inner surface of a first electrode of the assembly is wedged within a first channel of at least one core member of the assembly, around which the first electrode extends. The at least one core member is formed from an insulating material, and the first channel may be one of a plurality of longitudinally extending channels arrayed around a circumference of a central lumen of the assembly, which is defined by the at least one core member. The first conductor extends along a length of the assembly, for example, defined between the first electrode and a second electrode thereof, in a helical path that travels around the central lumen.

Techniques for forming a modular lead

Systems, devices, and techniques are disclosed for a modular medical lead system. The modular medical lead system may comprise an elongate lead body module including a plurality of coiled electrical conductors extending from a first end to a second end of the elongate lead body module, and a conductor hub adjacent the first end of the elongate lead body module. The plurality of conductors are electrically isolated from one another and mechanically coupled to the conductor hub such that the plurality of conductors are in a fixed arrangement relative one another. A first end of the conductor hub is nearer the first end of the elongate lead body module than a second end of the conductor hub.

A medical lead may be fabricated using an electrode fixture ((A)-(D)) configured to facilitate circumferential and axial alignment between electrodes of the lead. In one example, a method includes positioning an electrode fixture around at least one conductor of a plurality of conductors () for a medical lead, wherein the electrode fixture at least partially retains an electrode assembly. The method also includes electrically coupling a portion of the at least one conductor with at least a portion of the electrode assembly at an attachment area defined by the electrode assembly when the electrode assembly is at least partially retained by the electrode fixture.

Structures and techniques for medical lead fabrication

In some examples, the disclosure relates to a medical device comprising a lead including an electrically conductive lead wire; and an electrode electrically coupled to the lead wire, the electrode including a first portion and a second portion, wherein the first portion defines an exposed outer surface of the electrode and is electrically coupled to the second portion along a first interface, wherein the second portion is electrically coupled to the lead wire along a second interface different from the first interface via welding to couple the lead wire to the electrode, wherein an electrical signal may be transferred between the lead wire and exposed outer surface of the first portion via the second portion, and wherein the first portion is formed from a first material having a first composition, and the second portion is formed from a second material having a second composition different from the first composition.

Medical leads and techniques for manufacturing the same

Various embodiments of this disclosure concern assembly of a lead having one or two modular lead ends. A modular lead end can be made by aligning a plurality of wires exposed on an end of a main lead body with a plurality of conductors exposed on an end of a lead end. The lead end may comprise a spine, the plurality of conductors circumferentially arrayed about the spine, and an outer surface comprising a plurality of exposed electrical elements and polymer material, the plurality of electrical elements arrayed on the spine and electrically connected with the plurality of conductors. The assembly can further include making electrical connections between the plurality of electrical wires and the plurality of conductors and insulating the plurality of wires and the plurality of conductors.
