A vehicle propulsion system includes a first pump having an inlet for receiving fuel from a fuel reservoir and an outlet for providing pressurized fuel to a fuel feed line at a first pressure, a fuel feed line pressure sensor, a second pump having an inlet for receiving fuel from the fuel feed line and an outlet for providing pressurized fuel to an engine fuel rail at a second pressure, the second pressure being higher than the first pressure, a fuel temperature sensor, and a controller controlling the first pump to reduce the pressure of the fuel in the fuel feed line and determining whether the pressure of the fuel in the fuel feed line has reached a vaporization pressure of a component in the fuel.

Gasoline reid vapor pressure detection system and method for a vehicle propulsion system

A fuel system for a motor vehicle includes a fuel pump having a first pump outlet connectable to an engine fuel inlet and a second pump outlet, a fuel pump module including an internal volume, a fuel pump module outlet is arranged in the internal volume fluidically connected to the second pump outlet, and a fuel valve is fluidically connected to the second pump outlet. The fuel valve is operable to fluidically isolate the fuel pump from the fuel pump module when fuel in the internal volume reaches a selected fuel level.

Fuel system for a motor vehicle

A gasoline Reid vapor pressure (RVP) detection system includes a fuel pump and a motor operating the fuel pump in a forward direction of rotation to feed a gasoline fuel to a vehicle engine. A control device is in communication with the motor selectively directing change from the forward direction of rotation to a reverse direction of rotation opposite to the forward direction of rotation. A pressure reduction device receives flow of the fuel during operation in the reverse direction of rotation and reduces a pressure of the fuel until fuel vaporization occurs. A pump speed at which vaporization of the fuel occurs at the pressure reduction device when a motor speed and a motor current change non-linearly is correlated to a fuel RVP.

Gasoline Reid Vapor Pressure detection with brushless fuel pump

A vehicle includes an internal combustion engine (ICE) selectable between a running state and a non-running state. A thermoelectric generator (TEG) is in thermal contact with the ICE for converting thermal energy from the ICE to output electrical energy. The vehicle has an electric pump for circulating a liquid coolant through a coolant circuit. The electric pump is selectively powerable by the electrical energy output from the TEG. The coolant circuit is in fluid communication with the ICE, a radiator, and the TEG; and the TEG is downstream of the radiator in the coolant circuit.

A method for charging a battery. The method includes providing a desired target charge current and measuring the battery current, and determining if the target charge current is less than the measured battery current. The method also includes enabling a current integrator if the target charge current is less than the measured battery current, and integrating a charge current value over time if the current integrator is enabled to provide an integrated charge current value. The method also includes providing a target charge voltage and measuring the battery voltage, and determining if the target charge voltage is less than the measured battery voltage. The method also includes enabling a voltage integrator if the target charge voltage is less than the measured battery voltage, and integrating a charge voltage value over time if the voltage integrator is enabled to provide an integrated voltage value.
