A thermocouple assembly for surface temperature measurement, comprising a sheathed thermocouple sensor cable, a positioning pad, receiving and/or securing a thermocouple sensor end at a desired measuring point, an insulation body, and a shielding, wherein the positioning pad is mechanically connected to the shielding. Additionally methods for the installation of a thermocouple assembly are also provided.

The present disclosure relates to a temperature sensing device having a plurality of thermocouple arrangements, each of the thermocouple arrangements having a forward conductor and a plurality of return conductors electrically connected with the forward conductor, the return conductors having a different conductive material than the respectively associated forward conductor, electrical junctions or groups of electrical junctions of the return conductors to the respectively associated forward conductor being arranged at different longitudinal positions of the respectively associated forward conductor, and consecutive longitudinal positions of the electrical junctions or of groups of the electrical junctions of all thermocouple arrangements in the longitudinal direction of all forward conductors alternating between different forward conductors. Further, the present disclosure relates to a method of producing a temperature sensing device.

Temperature sensing device

A temperature monitoring assembly adapted to be positioned adjacent a structure in order to make temperature measurements at the surface of the structure is provided. The assembly includes a thermocouple means, a pad adapted for weldable attachment to the surface of the structure and having a slot therein for securing an end of the thermocouple means adjacent the surface of the structure at a desired location, and a heat shield forming a partially enclosed volume and having an opening shaped to conform to the surface of the structure so as to protect the thermocouple means from radiated heat when the shield is placed upon and welded to the structure over the thermocouple means. A portion of the thermocouple means extends though a slot in the heat shield to communicate measured temperature data. Insulating material is positioned within the partially enclosed volume of the heat shield for thermally isolating the thermocouple means so that the thermocouple means is substantially exposed only to heat transferred from the structure. The insulating material is moldable to the shape of the pad and the thermocouple means and hardens to a semi-rigid form, whereby premolding of the insulating material within the heat shield ensures that the heat shield will be properly placed over the pad and the thermocouple means for accurate temperature measurement of the structure.

In a temperature measuring system for determining the temperature at numerous levels within a reactor: A flexible thermocouple support is introduced into a well which is positioned inside the reactor; the measuring system includes a hollow flexible thermocouple support extending from outside the well through one well end to near the opposite well end, and the hollow support is adapted to receive a purging substance and to pass said purging substance into the well.
