A tamper respondent system having: a physical volume containing an electronic device to be protected; an at least partially conductive surface proximate to the electronic device; and a tamper respondent sensor over the electronic device (the sensor comprising: a flexible, dielectric substrate; conductive traces on the substrate; a porous insulating layer having pores over the conductive traces; and adhesive within said pores of said porous insulating layer), wherein the adhesive is in contact with both the substrate and the at least partially conductive surface through the porous insulating layer.

Tamper respondent system

The present invention relates to a tamper respondent enclosure which may be opened and closed as many times as necessary. In particular, the present invention relates to a re-usable tamper respondent enclosure comprising a first sensing means and a second sensing means wherein the first sensing means detects any attempt to breach the enclosure or to compromise the second sensing means.

An optical connector system comprises mating first and second fiber ferrules (1, 11). Each ferrule (1, 11) has an endface (4, 14) polished at an angle to minimize backreflections. A holographic optical element (6) disposed on the first ferrule endface (4) receives a transmitted beam and expands the beam to an expanded beam (21) of collimated light. The expanded beam (21) is launched into an air gap (22) for receipt by a holographic optical element (16) disposed on the second ferrule (11). The holographic optical element (16) on the second ferrule (11) receives the expanded beam (21) and focuses it to be received by the fiber held in the second ferrule (11).

A coupler (2,3) comprises, a central single mode optical fiber (5) and N number of glass fibers (4), having radii of equal dimensions, fused together along biconic tapered sections (13, 13) to couple optical power from the central fiber (5) completely and uniformly to only the fibers (4) that have optical cores (6).

An optical fiber switch 9 comprises a group of optical fiber end faces 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, including a first optical fiber end face 1 via which light is transmitted as an input signal and at least second and third optical end faces 2, 3 being the end faces of an optical loop 13. The group further includes a fourth fiber end face 4 via which light is transmitted as an output signal, and fifth and sixth fiber end faces 5, 6 being the end faces of an optical fiber loop 14. In a first position, light from the first fiber end face 1 is imaged into the second fiber end face 2 and is propagated through the fiber loop 13 to the third fiber end face 3 and imaged into the fourth fiber end face 4. In the second position, light from the first fiber end face 1 is imaged into the fifth fiber end face 5 and propagated through the fiber loop 14 through the sixth fiber end face 6 and imaged into the second fiber end face 2. Further, a fiber optic variable discrete delay system for electrical system includes one or more of the optical fiber switches 9 comprising a group of optical fiber end faces 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and means 8 for displacing the group of end faces 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 relative to one another.

In accordance with the present invention, a wavelength selective passive filter is sealed onto the end of a ferrule to form a connector which may be used to increase the wavelength sensitivity of fiber optic components. In particular, such connectors may be used to increase the wavelength isolation of WDM devices.
