A reflective particulate material comprises a particulate substrate, and a coating on the particulate substrate. The coated reflective particulate material may have a relative error of an amount of the coating on the particulate substrate of about 5% to about 15%, and/or a dust index of about 5 or lower, and/or a staining loss of about 8% to about 11%. A method of manufacturing the reflective particulate material comprises mixing the particulate substrate with a liquid coating composition to form a wet particulate mixture, passing the wet particulate mixture through at least one heat zone to remove water and/or moisture, and curing the coating material in the coating composition.

Coated solar reflective granules and methods of manufacturing the same

Embodiments of the invention provide fiber mat facers, ceiling panels, and method of manufacturing the same. A fiber mat facer may include a non-woven web of fibers having a first group of fibers with an average fiber diameter from about 6 &#x3bc;m to about 20 &#x3bc;m and a second group of fibers with an average fiber diameter from about 0.5 &#x3bc;m to about 5 &#x3bc;m. The fiber mat facer may also include a binder to bond together the non-woven web of fibers into the fiber mat. The binder may include a water repellant additive. The binder and/or fiber mat facer may further include an additive that enhances the opacity of the fiber mat facer. The fiber mat facer may also include a paint applied to an outer surface of the facer. The paint may include an additive that enhances the visual appeal of the facer and/or ceiling panel.

A resin-coated substrate composition includes a resin-coated substrate comprising a particulate substrate coated with a polymer resin, and an additive comprising bentonite or a zeolite. A method of preparing a resin-coated substrate composition includes heating a particulate substrate, and mixing the heated substrate with a polymer resin and an additive such as bentonite or a zeolite. In some embodiments, a foundry sand composition includes the resin-coated substrate composition. In some embodiments, a proppant sand composition includes the resin-coated substrate composition.

Resin-coated substrate compositions and methods of making the same

Provided is a method of forming a self supporting fibrous nonwoven filter media comprising dispersing glass fibers, crimped polymer fibers, and cellulosic fibers in a fluid dispersion. The dispersion is subjected to a moving forming wire to form a fibrous web. Binder is applied to the web. The web is dried and cured/melted and later pleated in a subsequent operation. Inclusion of crimped polymer fibers in filter media improves dust holding characteristics of the filter media.

High dust holding capacity filter media

A method of improving filtration efficiency of a fibrous nonwoven filter media comprises providing a filter media and incorporating in the filter media one or more additives selected from the group consisting of silicone additives, wax additives, and mixtures thereof. The filter media comprises glass fibers, polymer fibers, and optionally binder. Inclusion of silicone and/or wax additive(s) in a filter media has surprisingly been found to increase filtration efficiency, for example, by 10-15%.
