A marine motor assembly for a watercraft and a cover for a marine motor assembly. The assembly includes a housing; a motor disposed in the housing; and a propulsion device operatively connected to the motor. The housing includes a housing portion, and a cover selectively connected to the housing portion. The cover includes a cover body connectable to the housing portion, the cover body covering at least a portion of the motor; a noise dampening material layer disposed on an exterior side of the cover body; and a surface structure connected to the cover body, the noise dampening material layer being enclosed between the cover body and the surface structure.

Marine motor assembly and cover for a marine motor assembly

A marine outboard engine includes an internal combustion engine assembly that includes an internal combustion engine, a fuse assembly, a fuel filter, a spark plug, a gearcase including one of a propeller and an impeller, a swivel bracket, and a cowling. The cowling includes a service panel disposed on a first lateral side of the internal combustion engine assembly, and an affixed panel disposed on a second lateral side of the internal combustion engine assembly. The service and affixed panels define a split line therebetween and are removably attached to each other. The fuse assembly, the fuel filter, and the spark plug are mounted to one of the first lateral side and the affixed panel proximate to the split line and are at least in part accessible from the first lateral side when the service panel is detached and removed from the affixed panel.

Marine outboard engine cowling

An outboard engine has a cowling defining an engine compartment and an outlet fluidly communicating therewith. An engine housed in the engine compartment includes an engine block and an output shaft defining an output shaft axis, an axial direction, a radial direction and a circumferential direction. An outer end thereof extends outside the engine block. A flywheel mounted thereto rotates therewith. A cover fixed with respect to the engine block defines a chamber housing the flywheel disposed axially between the engine block and the cover, and radially between the output shaft and the cover. The cover includes a channel member defining a channel between a first end and a second end fluidly communicating with the outlet. The channel member defines a cross-sectional area of the channel. A circumferentially-extending portion of the channel is continuous with the chamber and has a cross-sectional area increasing towards the second end.

Flywheel assembly for an outboard engine

A cowling for housing an outboard engine. The cowling includes a plurality of walls defining at least in part an engine compartment. An engine compartment inlet, in fluid communication with the engine compartment, is defined at least in part by at least one of the plurality of walls. A hydrophobic mesh member disposed across the inlet is adapted to prevent at least a portion of a water content of an airflow flowing to the engine compartment via the engine compartment inlet from entering the engine compartment. An outboard engine having the cowling is also disclosed.

Outboard engine and air intake system

A marine outboard engine includes an engine having a front, back, top and two lateral sides. A cowling, covering the engine at least partially, includes a central support structure fixedly connected to at least one of the engine, a swivel bracket, and an exhaust system. The central support structure extending across at least a portion of the front, top and back of the engine defines at least partially a space through which at least a portion of at least one of its lateral sides is accessible. The space is selectively covered by at least one side panel which is at least partially selectively connected to the central support structure and at least partially disconnectable therefrom to reveal the portion of the at least one of the lateral sides of the engine while the central support structure extends across at least the portion of the front, top and back thereof.

An outboard engine has a cowling defining an engine compartment, an internal combustion engine disposed at least in part in the engine compartment, a driveshaft operatively connected to the internal combustion engine, and one of a propeller and an impeller operatively connected to the driveshaft. The one of the propeller and the impeller rotates about an axis that is angled relative to the driveshaft. A device is disposed inside the engine compartment. A box is disposed outside the engine compartment and is operatively connected to the engine compartment. A line has a portion disposed inside the box and an end operatively connected to the device. An outboard engine having a box disposed outside the engine compartment and operatively connected to the bracket is also disclosed. A watercraft having the outboard engine is also disclosed.

A control unit assembly is disclosed including a housing, at least one processor to control operation of an engine, and a voltage regulator configured to regulate a voltage of at least one rail of the engine. The at least one processing unit and the voltage regulator reside on a common circuit board.

An electronic control unit for a combustion engine having a water coolant passageway in heat transfer adjacency to the unit and adapted to remove heat from the unit. An ECU for combustion engine, comprising: electrical input circuits, electrical control circuits, electrical fuel injection output drive circuits, electrical oil pump output drive circuits and electrical ignition circuits. An ECU is disclosed which is adapted to verify firing of the ignition coils of the engine.

Water-cooled engine control

An electronic ignition and engine management system with anti-lockup and anti-kickback features for use in an internal combustion marine engine wherein the engine's operating speed is measured and appropriate ignition advance timing values are determined from the operating speed. An ignition pulse is generated at the ignition advances unless the engine is in a startup mode, or below a predetermined startup threshold speed. During startup mode, ignition pulses are generated at or top dead center to avoid overadvanced firing conditions and thus prevent engine lockup and kickback.
