A cowl top cover is disclosed that can be placed flush with a windshield and that makes it possible to efficiently absorb an impact load by appropriately allowing the windshield to deform, when the windshield is subjected to the impact load. The cowl top cover according to the present invention includes: a glass-parallel portion including an outer surface that is flush with the windshield at a rear end portion of a cover-main-body portion. The glass-parallel portion includes at least single linear fragile portion having a reduced thickness of the glass-parallel portion along the vehicle width direction. The fragile portion is configured to be deformable or breakable when the cover-main-body portion is subjected to a load equal to or greater than a predetermined magnitude.

Cowl top cover

A cowl-top cover capable of restraining a resistance force with respect to a load from a direction crossing a front glass face while improving its related appearance is provided. A cover main body portion is provided with a cover mounting portion adapted to be inserted into and engaged with, in a direction crossing a front glass face, an engagement receptacle portion disposed along a longitudinal direction at an edge part of a front glass from one end part in the longitudinal direction. The cover main body portion is provided with a low rigidity portion along the longitudinal direction at a position spaced from the cover mounting portion to an opposite side to the front glass.

Cowl-top cover

A cowl-top cover arranged across a lower end part of a front window panel, a rear end part of a front hood, and an upper end part of a dash panel, of a vehicle. The cover is formed by a seal loading portion supporting the rear end part of the front hood with a sealing member, a longitudinal wall portion extending downwardly LWR from a rear end part of the seal loading portion, and a panel loading portion supported at the upper end part of the dash panel. The longitudinal wall portion includes a first oblique face portion formed at a predetermined angle &#x3b8;at a rear portion side PR on the basis of a perpendicular line with the rear end part of the seal loading portion being a start point; and a second oblique face portion bent and formed at a front side FR of the first oblique face portion.

A cowl-top coveris provided which is arranged across a lower end partof a front window panel, a rear end partof a front hood, and an upper end partof a dash panel, of a vehicle. The cowl-top cover is formed by a seal loading portionsupporting the rear end partof the front hoodwith a sealing member, a longitudinal wall portionformed so as to extend downwardly LWR from a rear end partof the seal loading portion, and a panel loading portionsupported at the upper end partof the dash panel. The longitudinal wall portionis comprised of: a first oblique face portionformed at a predetermined angle &#x3b8;at a rear portion side PR on the basis of a perpendicular linewith the rear end partof the seal loading portionbeing a start point; and a second oblique face portionbent and formed at a front side FR of the first oblique face portion. In this manner, even if a rear end part is deformed and moves to the lower side due to an impact load from above applied to an front hood, the cowl panel approaching the front hood never become rigid, and the load can be efficiently absorbed.

A cover is provided between a front hood and a vehicle component. The cover includes a cover main portion, a lid, a supporting portion, a supported portion, and a contacting portion. An opening is formed on the cover main portion. The supporting portion is integrally provided on the cover main portion and around the opening. The supported portion is integrally provided on a circumferential edge of the lid and engaged with the supporting portion. The contacting portion is provided on the lid and receives a downward load from the front hood. One or both of the supporting portion and the supported portion deforms elastically in case where a load has been applied to the contacting portion and thereby the lid drops off within the opening. According to the cover, a deformable amount of the cover can be increased and maintenance costs can be reduced.
