A control device of a vehicle includes a controller. The vehicle includes an engine having an exhaust system including a combustion chamber and a catalyst, a motor able to operate drive wheels of the vehicle, and a battery which supplies driving power to the motor when the motor operates the drive wheels (motor assist operation), and is charged when the motor generates power (regenerative operation). During deceleration, the controller performs one of a first control which increases an engine resistance for a higher deceleration than requested, and performs the motor assist operation according to the engine resistance increase, when a battery state of charge (SOC) is a first given value or above; and a second control which controls a combustion state of the engine to raise a catalyst temperature, and performs the regenerative operation, when the battery SOC is a second given value below the first given value.

Control device for a battery-powered vehicle

A cooling device of a vehicle is provided, which includes a transmission, a first coolant circuit where a first coolant which cools the internal combustion engine circulates, a second coolant circuit independent from the first coolant circuit, where a second coolant which cools the electric drive system circulates, and a fluid circuit where fluid which lubricates and cools friction engagement elements in the transmission circulates. The fluid circuit includes a first heat exchanger which exchanges heat between the fluid and the first coolant, a second heat exchanger in-series with the first heat exchanger which exchanges heat between the fluid and the second coolant, a first adjuster which changes a flow rate of the fluid passing through the first heat exchanger, and a second adjuster which changes a flow rate of the fluid passing through the second heat exchanger.

Vehicle cooling device

Provided is a start controller for an engine capable of reducing torque of a starter consumed to start the engine. The start controller includes a stop position sensor that detects a position of a piston in each cylinder at an engine stop time, an intake pressure sensor that detects an intake pressure in an intake passage, and a processor that determines whether the position of the piston in each of the cylinders detected by the stop position sensor is within a specified target range after the engine is stopped. In the case where it is determined that the position of the piston in each of the cylinders after the engine stop is out of the target range and the intake pressure detected by the intake pressure sensor is lower than an atmospheric pressure, the engine is started by a motor even when an engine start condition is not satisfied.

Start controller for engine

An intake variable valve timing mechanism (VVT) that collectively changes an intake valve close timing as a close timing of a plurality of intake valves and a control device that controls an engine including a plurality of injectors and the intake VVT are provided. When a specified engine stop condition is satisfied, a fuel cut is performed to stop a fuel supply into a plurality of cylinders by the injector. After the fuel cut, the intake VVT is controlled such that a retarded amount of the intake valve close timing immediately before a stop of a stop-time compression stroke cylinder as a cylinder stopped in a compression stroke from intake bottom dead center is larger than a retarded amount of the intake valve close timing immediately before a stop of a stop-time expansion stroke cylinder as a cylinder stopped in an expansion stroke from the intake bottom dead center.

Stop position controller for engine

An engine control device is provided. A fuel injection valve performs a pre-injection and a main injection on a retarding side of the pre-injection so that pressure waves resulting from combustions caused by the injections cancel each other out. The control device secures a fuel injection amount to be supplied to a combustion chamber in one cycle by at least the pre-injection, the main injection, and a middle injection. The control device causes the fuel injection valve to perform the pre-injection at a timing when a piston is located at an advancing side of compression top dead center for premix combustion, to start the main injection during a combustion period of the fuel injected by the pre-injection for diffuse combustion, and to perform the middle injection at a timing between the other two injections with a fuel injection amount less than the other injections.

Engine control device and method of controlling engine

An engine combustion chamber structure includes a combustion chamber of an engine and a fuel injection valve. The fuel injection valve injects fuel toward a cavity in a crown face of a piston. The cavity includes a first cavity provided in a radially central region of the crown face with a first bottom having a first depth, a second cavity provided in an outer side of the first cavity with a second bottom having a second depth being smaller than the first depth, a connecting portion, and a standing wall region disposed further in a radially outer side than the second bottom of the second cavity. The second bottom is provided lower than an upper end, of the connecting portion. A lower section of the standing wall region is provided further in a radially inner side than an upper edge of the standing wall region.

Combustion chamber structure of engine

A control device for a compression ignition engine is provided, which causes an injector to perform a pre-injection and a main injection, sets fuel injection timings of these injections so that an interval between a first peak of a heat release rate resulting from the combustion of fuel injected by the pre-injection and a second peak of the heat release rate resulting from the combustion of fuel injected by the main injection becomes an interval to make pressure waves caused by these combustions cancel each other out, and when an increase of an intake air temperature is detected, controls the injector to reduce the injection amount of the pre-injection and retard the injection timing of the pre-injection compared with a case where the increase of the intake air temperature is not detected under a condition that engine load and speed are the same.

Control device for compression ignition engine

A control device for a compression ignition engine is provided, which causes an injector to perform a pre-injection and a main injection, sets fuel injection timings of these injections so that an interval between a first peak of a heat release rate resulting from the combustion of fuel injected by the pre-injection and a second peak of the heat release rate resulting from the combustion of fuel injected by the main injection becomes an interval to make pressure waves caused by these combustions cancel each other out, and when an increase of a wall surface temperature of a combustion chamber is detected, controls the injector to reduce the injection amount and retard the injection timing of the pre-injection compared with a case where the temperature increase is not detected, under a condition that engine load and speed are the same.

An engine lubrication system including: an oil pump configured to be driven by an engine; an oil jet mechanism configured to inject oil pressure-fed by the oil pump to a piston; and circuitry configured to set a target hydraulic pressure of the oil injected from the oil jet mechanism according to an operation state of the engine; determine a hydraulic pressure state of the oil injected from the oil jet mechanism; and change a gear stage of the automatic transmission to a lower gear stage in a case that a predetermined condition between the determined hydraulic pressure state and the target hydraulic pressure is satisfied.

Engine lubrication system

A cavity includes a lower-side cavity, an upper-side cavity, a first lip and a second lip. The upper-side cavity has a guide curved surface which extends along a circumference of a first imaginary circle in a section along a cylinder-axis direction, and the first lip has a curved surface which extends along a circumference of a second imaginary circle in a section along the cylinder-axis direction. An angle X which a cylinder axis makes with a common tangential line of the first imaginary circle and the second imaginary circle is set as 75&#xb0;&#x3c;X&#x3c;80&#xb0;. The guide curved surface is configured such that an angle Y of this guide curved surface which occupies at the circumference of the first imaginary circle is set as 80&#xb0;&#x3c;Y&#x3c;(180&#xb0;&#x2212;X).

Compression ignition engine

A control device for an engine is provided. A cavity formed in a crown surface of a piston of the engine includes a first cavity part disposed in a radially center area, a second cavity part disposed radially outward of the first cavity part, and a connecting part connecting these two parts. The control device causes a fuel injection valve to perform a first injection in which fuel is injected at a timing when the piston is located at an advancing side of CTDC and an injection axis thereof intersects with the connecting part, a second injection in which fuel is injected toward the first cavity part at a retarding side of the first injection, and a middle injection in which fuel is injected at a timing between the first and second injections, for a period shorter than each of the first and second injections.

Engine control device

A control device for a compression ignition engine is provided, which causes an injector to perform a pre-injection and a main injection, sets fuel injection timings of these injections so that an interval between a first peak of a heat release rate resulting from the combustion of fuel injected by the pre-injection and a second peak of the heat release rate resulting from the combustion of fuel injected by the main injection becomes an interval to make pressure waves caused by these combustions cancel each other out, and when an increase of an oxygen concentration of intake air supplied to a combustion chamber is detected, controls the injector to reduce the injection amount and retard the injection timing of the pre-injection compared with a case where the concentration increase is not detected under a condition that engine load and speed are the same.

A control system of an engine is provided, which includes a piston formed with a cavity and configured to reciprocate in a cylinder along a center axis of the cylinder, and a fuel injector disposed facing a top surface of the piston and configured to inject fuel along an injection axis. When the piston is located near a top dead center of compression stroke, the fuel injector performs a first injection so that the fuel flows from the fuel injector toward the cavity along the injection axis, collides with an inner surface of the cavity, then flows back toward the fuel injector along the inner surface of the cavity from a position offset from the injection axis. The fuel injector performs a second injection toward the cavity at a timing after the first injection and at which the fuel of the first injection flows back.

Method and system for controlling engine

A structure of a combustion chamber is provided. The structure includes a cavity formed in a central part of a crown surface of a piston and a wall surface constituting the cavity. The wall surface has a central ridge portion bulging farther toward a bottom surface of a cylinder head toward a center of the cavity, a periphery concave portion formed radially outward of the central ridge portion to concave radially outward, and a lip portion formed between the periphery concave portion and an opening edge of the cavity to convex radially inward. An outer circumferential part of the crown surface has a first portion and a second portion located radially outward of the first portion. A stepped portion is formed between the first and second portions. A stepped portion volume ratio of a stepped portion volume to a top dead center volume is set to 0.1 or smaller.

Combustion chamber structure for diesel engine

A diesel engine includes a piston, a cylinder head, and a fuel injector. The fuel injector has a valve body with bored nozzle holes in its tip part. A cavity having a circular shape in plan view is formed in a crown surface of the piston to concave to the counter cylinder head side. A wall surface constituting the cavity has a central ridge portion bulging toward the fuel injector while bulging larger toward the center of the cavity, a periphery concave portion formed radially outward of the central ridge portion to concave radially outward, and a lip portion formed between the periphery concave portion and the crown surface to convex radially inward.
