The present invention provides an optical deflector capable of reducing a temperature drift of a strain gauge due to a temperature gradient, and detecting with high accuracy an angular displacement of a mirror surface. The optical deflector includes a movable plate, two fixed portions which are disposed at an outer side of the movable plate, two elastic supporting members which are disposed to be substantially symmetric about a center line of the movable plate, and which connect the movable plate and the two fixed portions, an angular-displacement detecting portion having a Wheatston bridge as a measuring portion which includes two active resistors, and two reference resistors, and detects an angular displacement of the movable plate, and at least one resistor element is provided on the elastic supporting portion. All of the four resistor elements are in an isothermal characteristics area.

Optical deflector

A wavelength selection switch includes a diffraction grating that spectrally separates entering light, a focusing optical system that receives the light spectrally separated by the diffraction grating and focuses the light at a predetermined position, a deflection member that is arranged at the predetermined position and includes deflection elements that deflect the light entering through the focusing optical system, a base on which the diffraction grating, the focusing optical system, and the deflection member are mounted, and a deflection member position adjusting member that adjusts a position of the deflection member with respect to one of the diffraction grating and the focusing optical system. The deflection member position adjustment member includes a positioning member that determines a reference position of the deflection member in a direction of spectral separation of the diffraction grating, and a guide member that guides the deflection member in the direction of spectral separation.

Wavelength selection switch

An optical switch includes an input optical fiber, an output optical fiber, a grating which performs spectral separation of an optical signal to a plurality of optical signals having different wavelengths, a plurality of movable mirrors, each reflecting an optical light subjected to spectral separation, and directing the optical light appropriately to the input fiber, and each of the movable mirrors can be inclined, a mirror-angle detector which detects an angle of inclination of each of the movable mirrors, a table which associates a wavelength number which identifies the optical signals of the plurality of wavelengths, and an output-destination number which identifies the input optical fiber or the output optical fiber, with the angle of inclination of each movable mirror, and a control circuit which performs a feed-back control such that an angle of inclination AD which is output from the table and an output from the mirror-angle detector match.

Optical switch

An optical deflector includes a magnet unit, which generates a magnetic field, and a movable plate unit, which is placed in the magnetic field. The movable plate unit has an inner movable plate having a reflecting surface, an outer movable plate, two inner torsion bars connecting the inner and outer movable plates, a support located outside the outer movable plate, and two outer torsion bars connecting the outer movable plate and support. The movable plate unit has two inner drive wiring portions that extend along by a periphery of the inner movable plate. The magnet unit includes magnets, two adjacent magnets of which are opposite in magnetic polarity direction. The inner drive wiring portions extend almost parallel to boundaries between the two adjacent magnets and are respectively located substantially immediately above the boundaries. Currents of the same direction are applied to the two inner drive wiring portions.

An optical deflector array has a first board, second board, and magnetic field generator. The first board has movable plates respectively having reflecting surfaces, wirings passing through the respective movable plates, and first connecting portions provided at the two ends of the each wiring. The second board has second connecting portions electrically connected to the first connecting portions of the first board, third connecting portions for external electrical connection, and connecting wirings electrically connecting the second connecting portions and the third connecting portions. The optical deflector array further has connecting members that electrically connect the first connecting portions of the first board to the second connecting portions of the second board.

Optical deflector array

An optical deflector includes a magnet unit and a movable plate unit. The movable plate unit has an inner movable plate having a reflecting surface, an outer movable plate, two inner torsion bars connecting the inner and outer movable plates, a support located outside the outer movable plate, and two outer torsion bars connecting the outer movable plate and support. The movable plate unit has two inner wirings, each of which has an inner drive wiring portion that extends along by a periphery of the inner movable plate and two inner extracted wiring portions extending from two ends of the inner drive wiring portion. The two inner drive wiring portions are located substantially line-symmetrically with respect to the first axis. The two inner extracted wiring portions are located substantially line-symmetrically with respect to the second axis. Currents of the same direction are applied to the two inner drive wiring portions.

A semiconductor device has a first substrate and a second substrate. The first substrate has first electrodes on at least one surface. The second substrate has concave portions on a surface, and second electrodes provided on bottom surfaces of the concave portions. The semiconductor device further has metallic members located between the first electrodes of the first substrate and the second electrodes of the second substrate. The metallic members have a height greater than a depth of the concave portions of the second substrate, and electrically and mechanically bond the first electrodes of the first substrate and the second electrodes of the second substrate.

Semiconductor device

The present invention is directed to a photoconductive switch module. The photoconductive switch module comprises a first substrate having light-emitting elements, and a second substrate having photoconductive switch elements, whose number is equal to that of the light-emitting elements. The light-emitting elements face the photoconductive switch elements, so that the photoconductive switch elements are turned on/off in accordance with lighting/extinction of the light-emitting elements. The photoconductive switch module further comprises a third substrate arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate. The third substrate has through holes, whose number is equal to that of the light-emitting elements. Each through hole is positioned between a light-emitting element and a photoconductive switch element facing each other. Drive light emitted from each light-emitting element travels to the photoconductive switch element via the through hole.

Photoconductive switch module

A light intercepting device includes a movable portion allowed to swing about a support portion as a torsional axis, a shielding portion provided at an end portion of the movable portion in a direction perpendicular to the torsional axis, a driving wiring provided on the movable portion, and a magnetic field generator to apply a magnetic field to at least a part of the driving wiring in a direction perpendicular to the driving wiring. A position of the shielding portion is changed by power supply control for the driving wiring to control transmission and interception of space light.

Light intercepting device and optical switch apparatus

An optical pickup is provided which includes a light source, an optical system for converging a laser beam emitted from the light source, and an optical element having a function of increasing a numerical aperture of the optical system, wherein recording and/or reproducing information on a recording medium is performed by using the laser beam from the light source while the optical element is brought in contact with or in close to the recording medium, and the optical element has a contamination-preventing structure.

Optical pickup

The present invention is directed to a photoconductive switch module. The photoconductive switch module comprises a first substrate having light-emitting elements, a second substrate having photoconductive switch elements, whose number is equal to that of the light-emitting elements. The light-emitting elements face the photoconductive switch elements so that the photoconductive switch elements are turned on/off in accordance with lighting/distinction of the light-emitting elements. The photoconductive switch module further comprises a third substrate arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate. The third substrate has through holes, whose number is equal to that of the light-emitting elements. Drive light emitted from a light-emitting element is trapped within a through hole to travel to a photoconductive switch element. The first substrate and the third substrate are connected to each other by heating and pressure contacting of first metal members.

Photoconductive switch module and manufacturing method thereof

A laser beam emitted from a laser source provided at a silicon substrate passes through a hologram element formed of a translucent flat plate and a grating, thereby being subjected to NA conversion executed by an NA converting lens, passing through a polarizing film of a polarization beam splitter, and converging onto a magneto-optical disk via a collimator lens and an objective. A part of back-reflection from the magneto-optical disk, which is reflected by a polarizing film of the polarization beam splitter, is reflected by a reflection surface of the splitter, then branched into two polarized light beams by a Wollaston prism, and guided to one light receiving element group. On the other hand, another part of the back-reflection, which passes through the polarization beam splitter, is branched into two beams by the hologram element and guided to the other light receiving element groups.

Optical pickup apparatus

A magneto-optical pickup includes a light source for emitting a light beam, the light beam traveling to an information recording medium along a first optical path, a first light receiving element group for detecting an error signal, a second light receiving element group for detecting a magneto-optical signal, the first and second light receiving element groups being situated substantially on one plane, a diffraction grating for diffracting light returned along the first optical path from the information storage medium, the diffracted light being directed toward the first light receiving element group, a polarization beam splitter for separating a part of the return light from the information storage medium, a beam of the separated part of return light traveling to the second light receiving element group along a second optical path, a mirror for bending the second optical path, the light beam reflected thereby being directed toward the second light receiving element group, and an anisotropic optical crystal member having an optic axis inclined to the optical axis at an angle within the range between 30&deg; and 60&deg;, the crystal member including a parallel flat plate portion, which is between the mirror for bending the second optical path and the first light receiving element group.

Magneto-optical pickup

An optical pickup comprises a light source section for emitting a parallel light beam, an optical head for converging the light beam onto a recording medium, and a deflecting device for deflecting the beam from the light source section toward the optical head. The deflecting device is capable of adjusting the direction of the deflected beam, so that the beam converged by the optical head onto the recording medium is moved for tracking control. The optical pickup further comprises partially directing means for partially directing the beam incident on the deflecting device in a direction different from the direction of the beam deflected toward the optical head so as to generate a partial light beam, and a sensor for optically sensing the direction of the beam deflected by the deflecting device on the basis of the partial light beam from the partially directing means. The deflecting device comprises a transparent optical element which, for example, allows most of the components of the incident beam to pass through and reflects the remaining few components, and a driving mechanism for rotating the optical element. The partially directing means comprises the optical element.
